Date Night

added by Anonymous 2 years ago O

-?- Taylor sent -I thought you wanted to keep your distance-

Maggie mulled over her words before typing away, -Avoiding you wouldn’t fix anything. So, yay or nay?-

-Sure. Do you want me to come to your place or…-

-How about we both meet at the movies? There should be a showing of that one movie we thought to watch around 5-

-A’ight, cinema at 5-

‘And now for the waiting game…’ Maggie sets her phone down, before realizing, ‘Shit, what am I going to wear?’

Taylor laid in bed, sort of numb, but excited. She feared Maggie would be avoiding her for the rest of their lives, but not even a day later and she’s asking Taylor out! Taylor had to ensure nobody would hear her squeals of joy, before setting up to get ready for the date – even though she had all the time in the world for it.

“Should I change myself up? No, Maggie might not like it…maybe just do some fancier hairstyles then, that’s a simple change…” Taylor considered adding some highlights, but as she went through the list of styles, she decides to settle for a classic waterfall braid and only lighten the tips a bit for some contrast, “Now that looks nice. What should I wear…dare I cheat and try to match…no, too clingy…best go for simple…wait, what’s the weather!”

One could only describe Taylor from that point on as a human hurricane, as she tried to ensure an excellent date night (no sudden rainstorms, not weird power outages, The Karen’s staying away from the area they are in, etc.) and actually get ready for it – even with the unintentional distractions, like Darla asking for help with a particular contour, getting in the way…

“You know, putting this much effort into looking good for another girl is...kind of romantic.” Janice teased and Maggie grumbled quietly, to allow the older woman to finish the eye make-up.

“It's not romantic! I just want to look good for my friend…is that really that romantic?”

“Well, with this much work, then it is.” Janice finished applying the last of the eyeliner and winked at the slightly flushed teen, “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. Just be friends and have fun, maybe a kiss if she wants. Just be yourself and I’m sure you’ll be golden.”

“Where the fuck did I put my tie?!” Michael’s voice rings from the other room.

“Did you check the drawers?” Maggie called out, a bit startled, still getting used to her brothers occasional cursing without somebody shrieking at them for using such words.

Sounds of drawings getting yanked and slammed into place only happened twice, before Michael called back, “Thanks, I found them!”

“Going on a date yourselves?” Maggie inquired a bit cheekily, as Janice applied some eyeliner to herself.

“Yeah, thinking of checking out the art gallery and then maybe a dinner in town. The rest, well, we’ll see.”

“Well, I hope you two have a great time.”

“Oh, you’re too kind.”

-Question.-

-?- Taylor sent back.

-Did you have anything to do with Michael and Janice? Don’t lie-

-A bit…- Taylor replied, -I saw how he acted around Darla and found he really likes trans women, so, I looked for someone who would be a good match for him or someone to base this ideal person on…and then I found James Stone…-

-And turned him into Janice?-

-James did like Michael. All I did was give him the chance to realize it.-

-You’re like a reverse genie, instead of twisting the wish, you’re realizing what they always wanted…-

-I guess so…-

-See you in two hours.-

Taylor just sent back a thumbs up emoji at that.

It was just past four when Michael and Janice, hand in hand and still sickeningly sweet, left for their date night, allowing Maggie to finish up at her pace. It only took 30 minutes by foot to get to the cinema and she had a bus on the way, so no need to rush…other then to quell the worried butterflies in her gut.

‘There is nothing to worry about. Taylor bound herself so that she can’t do anything to me without my consent…then again, considering my reaction, she could unbind herself and…no, she did care about me. She only did what she has done to help. Gah!’ Maggie threw her hands in the air, wanting to yank her now braided hair, ‘This is not helping! I’ll better cool off walking to the cinema!’

So that’s what she did, grabbing her small handbag, Maggie started speed walking her way to the cinema, the cool evening wind whizzing by helped her relax some more as she started nearing the cinema.

It was close to five and Taylor was waiting in front of the theater. On the outside she looked like an anxious girl waiting for her date. On the inside she was close to a wreck, nervous and worrying if Maggie really did want this or if she just got cold feet or…the sound of footsteps closing in pulled Taylor out of her fervor to see Maggie – looking extra pretty enough to cause Taylor to blush a bit – coming up.

“Ready to go in?”

“Yeah!” Taylor smiled, still looked a bit nervous. Maggie felt a bit bad about it but decides not to voice anything, rather walking by the other girl and lightly hip checking her.

“Let’s get some snacks first, kay?”

“Whatever you say.”

Now feeling more at ease, the two girls walk into the movie theater, hands almost touching the other.
