"The question, Miss Taylor" said Maggie flirtatiously as the two settled into their seats "Is can you win my heart without using your powers?"
"Well, Miss Maggie" Taylor responded "I sure hope so."
The movie began. Afterwards, neither could remember which of them had first taken the other's hand in hers.
Walking out of the movie together hand-in-hand, the two were confronted by an angry, red-faced white man. "Fucking dykes" he yelled "Fuck you bitches."
"Remember when I said I didn't want you to use your power tonight" said Maggie, a little scared "I'm telling you now it's OK."
The man froze, his angry face only a few feet from Maggie and Taylor. "Hmmm" said Taylor "His wife just left him for a woman. He wants to take it out on the world, specifically the girl-loving-girl part of the world. Let's fix that."
The pretty African-American woman said "Look at you two beautiful young ladies in love. It does my heart good to see you." She walked on by.
"She's a nurse. Six months from now she'll go to a gay bar and meet a woman she feels an immediate connection to. That's her wife, who broke up with the woman she left him for. They'll start dating, fall in love, get married and have three kids, one through artificial insemination and two adopted. They'll live together into their eighties in a loving household, and die three hours apart."
"You did all that?" said Maggie, slightly awestruck.
"It's not like I planned the whole thing, but there are certain patterns that tend to persist--some people are meant to be together, for example."
"Really?" said Maggie "Are we meant to be together?"
"Sometimes" said Taylor "It's just beautiful, random chance." The two kissed.
