After a lengthy discussion, Mrs. Maxwell went into the next room over to tell the doctor their decision. “we have decided we will stay here overnight for the transformation.” Announced Mrs. Maxwell to the doctor.
“Okay then, I will take you to your room where you will stay tonight. There is a chemical in the ventilation system in the room that will drastically speed up the transformation process, so you should be transformed by the time you wake up tomorrow morning. We will also give you all a powerful sedative so that you can sleep through your changes.” Explained the doctor.
The Maxwells were escorted by the doctor through a long series of hallways leading to an elevator, which took them to a hotel-like area of the transformation center. Each room held a different transforming family. “This section of the center was only established two weeks ago. We had it built as quick as possible once the monster virus spread to the U.S.” Explained the doctor.
“This room here will be where you sleep tonight.” The doctor led them into a large room which had seven beds, each a few feet away from each other. “Each of you should take one of these pills now, they will ensure that you don’t wake up in the middle of your transformation.” The doctor handed each of the Maxwells a small white pill, and each of them swallowed it. “ I should also give all of you fair warning that, based on your genetics, you may experience some animal like instincts after you have transformed. These instincts can range from sometimes making animal sounds, to partial loss in bowel control, although it is very rare.” The Maxwells became a bit uneasy at that last detail.
“Goodbye for now. I will check in on all of you tomorrow morning, and then you can all finally go back home as newly transformed furries.” The doctor said as he left the room.
“I can’t believe that tomorrow morning I’m going to be a panda. I hope I can still make it onto the swim team.” Said Mary. “I’m sure you’ll make it Mary, you’re one of the best swimmers on the team, panda or not.” Said Mr. Maxwell reassuringly. “And I guess being a bunny won’t be that bad, although I will miss eating meat.” Said Noah. “I Just hope I don’t smell that bad.” Remarked John. “Well, one things for sure; we are going to make for one strange family.” Said Mrs. Maxwell.
The Maxwells got into bed for the last time as humans, and one by one, they fell asleep.
