Nine weeks passed quickly. Bruno was amazed at how quickly Chad was forgotten by the faculty, staff and classmates, and even his family? Bruno was amazed at how everyone believed the story coach concocted to explain Chad's disappearance. The accident was plausible. Bodies in that river had been found buried in the muddy river bottom practically where the victim entered the water, miles away down river or even out to sea if caught in a strong current. Many were never found. Chad's car and clothes were found near the river with a half drunk six pack of beer. People assumed the drunk teen drowned skinny dipping. Coach Sinclair had years to plan it, and it worked perfectly.
Bruno had really bonded with Cha Cha, he figured it was better not to call the female dog Chad, especially after the real Chad had gone missing. Duh, the dog was the real Chad, just everyone thought Chad was dead. Cha Cha had the mind and instincts of a dog, not just the body. Chad still remembered being human, but dogs lived in the moment, and had lousy sense of telling time.
Cha Cha was lying on warm blanket in Bruno's kitchen. Coach Sinclair arrived with Brutus. Cha Cha was going to have her puppies tonight.
"So now what coach?" Bruno asked.
"Well, Chad weans her pups, I collect 2 or 3 males to raise to stud her. You can sell the rest, and keep the money. That should pay for Chad and Brutus' dog food. And I'll leave Brutus with you until Chad is pregnant again. Keeping him pregnant should keep him from becoming human again. ", Coach said.
" Wait Chad could become human again? " Bruno asked.
Chad raised her head, but a puppy started to push out distracting her.
"Yeah, Brutus' father changed back a little while after my bitch dog Mary Ann have birth. And Brutus while he's a fine dog, he really doesn't make a passable human. I figure his and Chad's offspring are 3/4ths human, and then breeding those pups with Chad should produce 7/8 ths human pups, which should be passable human footba!l players. They will contain genes mostly from Chad, but also from Davy Jones, who was my star receiver 4 years ago. And since they will have gone through obedience training, they should be good loyal boys. Too bad Davy got away, it would be easier to breed him with Chad right away." Coach sighed.
