It was a cold October night and the woods were quiet except for two squabling voices. The voices belonged to the twins, Thomas and Elizabeth. The college seniors had been drinking all night with their friends and had been dared to go to the spooky cabin in the woods.
Unfortunately, as it turned out navigating the woods at night while hammered was not particularly easy. Now completely lost and unsure of how long it would be until someone was sober enough to feel the need to look for them, panic was beginning to set in.
"We needa shtop an call for help." Thomas slurred.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, "My phone'sh n'my purse and you drop'd yoursh down the shtairs earlier."
"Oh righ. Well lesh jush shleep here."
"Great idea! We'll shle *hiccup* ep on the freeshing ground in the middle of nowhere!"
The two continued their fruitless argument until a voice behind them interrupted.
"Isn't it a bit late for a couple of kids to be out playing in the woods?"
The two spun around too quickly and lost their balance. Toppling over into a large puddle, they looked up to see a beautiful woman not much older than them smirking down at them.
"Who'r you calling kidsh? We're adultsh." Thomas replied.
"Ah yes silly me. You're just two adults lost in the woods, bickering like grade schoolers, and covered in mud."
Thomas glowered while Elizabeth turned bright red, "Shorry for him. We're losht can you pleashe show ush the way out of here?"
The woman snickered, "You're liable to lose a finger to frostbite before you make it out if you don't get out of those wet clothes first. Come on you can dry off in my cabin before I send you on your way."
The woman turned and started walking away, Elizabeth scrambled to her feet to follow and Thomas reluctantly joins her. As they reach the clearing where the cabin lies, the two realize that this was their original destination.
Thomas can't help but blurt out, "Hey ishn an old witch sushposhed to live here?"
"Thomash!"
The woman ignores Elizabeth's rebuke, "Why of course an old witch lives here. But you don't think with all my years of study I couldn't choose to look however I wish?"
Both responded with nervous laughter as they enter the cabin, but the woman remained straight faced. Once inside the cabin, the two are handed towels and are instructed to strip off their clothes. With nowhere to go for privacy they have no choice, but to remove their wet clothes in front of the strange woman.
"Now there's no way this clothes will be dry before morning, so you'll either have to borrow something from that chest or spend the night here."
A silent look between the siblings showed they were on the same page for once. They walk across the room and open up the chest only to look back to the woman confused.
"Theshe won't fit ush. They're for little kids," says Elizabeth.
The woman laughs, "Oh right you're "adults", no worries just drink this potion and you'll find any clothes fit you. At least until Halloween ends next week then you'll be quite stuck."
As offered a strange vial full of purple liquid, Thomas snorted, "Ok I'm sorry I called you a witch, but can you help ush for real."
"I am helping either drink this and try something from there on or sleep here."
The two attempted to confer quietly with each other, "You think ish poishon?"
Elizabeth wacked him on the head, "No, is probably jush really grosh. You're jush shuch a jerk she doeshn't want to help ush until we let her play her prank."
"I dunno why don't we jush shpend the night?"
"You can't be sherioush."
After a few more moments of this...
