Rachel was in her third hour class, sitting near the back of the classroom. While the teacher up front was droning on, her mind was anywhere but in the class room. On a sheet of paper, her hand held a pencil that was sketching a few things that were going through her mind. She drew a stick figure of herself on the paper, but then she added in a pair of fox ears and a fox tail. Her mind went to last night where she and Aaron had a...bit of fun. While she didn't go all the way with him, she came really close. Her face flushed red and a small smile came to her face. A part of her wouldn't mind doing that again...perhaps go a bit further. Her mind idly asked if he was available this afternoon too for more...fun.
She drew a second stick figure, but added the round ears and the small round tail of a bear. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't interested. There were a large number of stuffed bears that she slept with in her bed, and she honestly thought bears were cute. Even if they tended to be a bit big and ferocious. While she did see the pictures in the guide book, she wondered what one looked like in real life. Maybe that was something she could ask Jack. Although, the last time she asked a boy to show her his were form, she almost became a were herself. Maybe she should get a bottle of were birth control pills...for...just in case. She just had to answer the question of if she wants werefox birth control pills or werebear birth control pills.
The school bell rang, indicating the end of the third hour and the beginning of the lunch/study hour. Being a sophomore, she had study hall first before lunch while the freshmen had lunch. She picked her books up and packed them into her backpack before heading out of the classroom. She quickly made her way to the library where study hall was held and found her group of friends. Melissa Jenkins caught Rachel's eye as Melissa waved her hand. Rachel joined her friends.
"So, what's the news?" Melissa asked as Rachel sat down in a nearby chair.
"Oh boy...let's just say quite a bit happened last night," Rachel answered as the group paid attention to her. "My mom and dad got into a bit of a argument last night about this whole were law thing. I wasn't there for most of it, but from what I heard from my brother, the two of them had an argument and then the two of them went out into the woods to meet a were."
Alice raised an eyebrow as she said, "Oh, I think I know where this is going."
"Yeah," Rachel said as she nodded, "Well, let's just say that they did meet with a were and things got a little too...personal." Rachel gave a sigh as she rubbed her forehead. "The next part is a bit murky, but from what my dad told me, he met a werelioness, became a werelion somehow, and mom got attacked by a mountain lion."
"Is she okay?" Melissa asked.
"She had to go to the hospital," Rachel answered, "but last I heard from my dad, she's doing okay."
"That's good," Jason said. After a brief pause, he asked, "I guess this means that you don't have to worry about the mandatory were law since your dad is a werelion now."
"Yeah, I mean, I guess I don't have to worry about being changed into a werewolf or something," Rachel answered. "However..."
"You still interested in becoming a were?" Alice asked finishing.
"I mean, yeah," Rachel said, "When my dad got home last night, he wasn't in his...were form...I guess?"
"Fursona," Megumi said, "We call them fursonas."
"Right, fursona," Rachel said, "but he looked...decades younger. And seeing Mel here...maybe there's something to this whole were thing."
"But with your dad as a werelion, you don't have the pressure to join a group," Alice said.
"I know," Rachel responded, "but that doesn't mean I'm not interested. Besides, I did say that I'd meet Jack about being a werebear during lunch, so I guess I'll see how that goes."
The group looked at each other before Melissa said, "You know that we'll support you anyway we can."
"I know," Rachel said with a bit of a smile, "And I do appreciate that."
"It's just, joining a group is a commitment," Megumi said, "Once you go furry, you'll never be able to go back, so think carefully about what you want to do."
Melissa added in, "I'll give you advice. If you're going to join a group, you should do it because you want to be that type of were, or do it because you're in love with someone." Melissa leaned back into Trevor when she said that.
"I'll keep that in mind," Rachel said as she smiled a bit. It was at that time that the bell rang, indicating the end of the study hall period and the start of the lunch period. The group gathered their things and filed out, with Rachel being a bit behind. She took a deep breath as she made her way to the cafeteria.
