It was just supposed to be a simple vacation to Hawaii. But then out of nowhere the engines gave out and the entire plane made a violent landing in the Pacific Ocean. You managed to escape the plane with only your seat cushion and a life vest. You drifted away from anyone else still alive leaving you alone in the Pacific. You don’t know how long you drifted for. You think you read somewhere that humans could survive a week without water, so definitely longer than that. You were incredibly thirsty and hungry. You knew no one would come to your rescue.
Against your better judgment and even knowing it wouldn’t help their were still times when you tried drinking small amounts of sea water. It didn’t help.
You have no idea how long you drifted or where. The ocean was always the same, you also kept passing out. Some times you would try to shut your eyes for a quick nap and jerk away again to find it the middle of the night or day, if it even was the same day. Your body was so pruny it looked like you were 600 years old.
You were so dileriouse that after several days you thought you saw the head and shoulders of a woman poking out of the waves. But when you turned your head to face her she was gone. Eventually over the next few days she kept showing up, some times bringing friends with her. One time you swore you felt her tugging on your leg, but it was definitely just some sea weed.
After a long time you woke up to find your precious cushion perched on a sand bar. Water was still below you but you where so thankful for a spot to stop.
You lay on your back flat for the first time in probably a month. Laughing,
Finally land.
You tilted your head up and saw another larger island just a bit further with a giant fish tail shaped rock. But that wasn’t what drew your attention. That was clearly just another hallucination. What did draw your attention was the coconuts on the beach.
If any of this was real those coconuts meant both food and water.
You had to get to that beach. You were so close, yet also so tired, and so hungry, and tired, and thirsty, and tired. A quick nap. Then the food...
