At the moment, Michael, Janice, Maggie and Dana were off to start the wedding planning, Maggie because she always wanted to help and Dana because one of the girls at the commune had been a wedding planner and shared a lot of tips for planning the event with the rest of the group (like don’t tell the company you’re organizing a wedding, as they just hike up the prices 5 fold before offering ‘discounts’ and the only perk you can get is ‘tasting’). That leaves Gabriel to look after the cats – the doctors stated due date approaching – and Taylor who decided to wait for Maggie at her place for now.
“Sooo…” Gabriel started, looking Taylor over, “Imma guess the wedding day will be absolutely perfect.”
Taylor nodded, “Yeah, I had it done so that Murphy and his law can go and suck it for that time period.”
“Cool, cool, cool.”
It was a bit weird for Taylor to talk about her powers with someone not named Maggie or not part of the commune, but it was also a sort of refreshing? Like, there is no pretenses or falsities, so they can get to the point easily.
“Think you’ll ever tell Michael?”
“Dunno, no plans for it at the moment. If it comes to it, then it’ll come to it.”
“Cool, cool, cool, quick question: the hell did you do to my genetics so suddenly?”
“Oh, I was wondering if Dana was going to mention it to you.”
“Only after I asked about her reaction to seeing me post supernatural dye job. So…what the hell is up with that?”
“Maggie wanted to be a blonde and not use the lie of constantly dyeing her hair. So I changed it to fit her wish.”
Skeptical, but curious, Gabriel asked, “So, it wasn’t some twisted fun with tampering with people and their very lives?”
“No, no, no! Maggie was the one who suggested blonde and wanted to keep it. I figured just change some genes around, like,” Taylor first ensured that nobody would enter the room or see what is about to happen, before creating a very basic sort of holographic image of a stick figure family tree, “Let’s say, great-great-great grandma had some recessive blond that didn’t pass on, so instead I made it that it did pass on, only the hair color altering and, at most, spoken and written references to the hair color. The lengths and wave volume stayed the same,” The respective stick figures changed from brown to blond, while still plenty of brown remained, “Similarly to other features, a cup size here, a hip width there…the end result you can see in Maggie – all of which were done by her request. Admittedly,” Taylor nodded, “Some other people also get affected, but the most you did was your hair going from the same dark brown as Michael, who did not experience a hair change, to a blond-brown color you now have.”
Gabriel rubbed his face as Taylor dispelled the visual aid, wondering when exactly his life became so weird, “Okay, okay, how about…unless it’s supposed to affect everyone, you don’t randomly mess with my genetics?”
“I can offer you the same promise as Maggie: not messing with you, unless you consent to it? As long as you don’t suddenly up and vanish like you did after the accountant revealed everything.”
Gabriel appears to mull it over before extending his hand in a handshake, “Eh, I’ll take it.”
And Taylor reciprocated the handshake.
“Want me to change the hair back?”
“Eh, it grew on me. Literarily.”
