“What….what is going on?” inquired Kelly her mouth was dry as she looked up toward a clear blue sky, wasn’t she like everyone else on the boat a few minutes ago, wasn’t she just siting down to breakfast when…she couldn’t remember. Slowly she sat up and began to look around, her eyes weren’t focusing right but she seamed to be on a sand bar of some kind, did the boat sink.
“Kelly?” inquired her boyfriend Kenny as he spoke up, he was lying beside her in the sand. She looked down the line to see all her friends, minus Amanda where in a makeshift line on the beach. Some where higher up on the beach but in general they were in a line.
“What the fuck is going on?” inquired Kenny
“That is kind of hard to explain.” Said Amanda’s voice as both turned to see Amanda swimming in the water.
“Did we drink so much that we all blacked out?” inquired Kenny
“No…well…” started Amanda then she remembered she was talking to Kenny and Kelly, both where blunt and to the point. The two of them where extremely passionate but also extremely loyal. So she decided to do the same. “We are on a magical island which in time will go to a magical world and they are offering us a chance to become mermaids and merman. They knocked you out and brought you here to let you…both of you make the choice.”
Both Kenny and Kelly looked at her for a moment, Kelly with her long black breaded black hair and dark chocolate skin looking at her like she had gone off the deep end. Kenny in his white skin tanned from years working on a farm when he was growing up before going to college and wild un camp hair looking at her wondering what sort of drugs she was doing.
Amanda dove down raising her new deep blue and lavender tail into the air, hitting the surface with a hard splash before rocketing up to the two of them. Faster than she actually thought she could go and that caused her to slam a little harder into the sand then she would have liked. It did have the aid of sending her up to almost even with Kelly and Kenny who is eyes where now as wide as dinner plates as they looked at her and her new tail.
“I said yes.” Confirmed Amanda
“Kelly please slap me.” Requested Kenny “I need to know I am not dreaming.”
“Only if you slap me.” Countered Kelly “Can…can I touch it?”
“My tail? Sure.” Confirmed Amanda as Kelly reached out and touched the scale covered limb of one of her friends.
“My God…it is real.” Stated Kelly as Kenny reached over and touched Amanda’s tail as well.
“You can have one to.” Said a new voice as Kelly and Kenny looked out toward the water to see multiple mermaids and merman surfacing. “You can live for years under the sea and be free of everything on the surface.”
Liz went on to explain how they would gain longer lives and a bit about merpeople society like how love was accepted between almost everyone.
“The rest of our friends will get the same choice.” Said Amanda as Kelly and Kenny shared a lot between each other. Amanda knew somewhat was going through Kelly’s mind, Kenny’s folks where racists who did not like their only son being with a minority and Kenny didn’t want to deal with his crazy family.
“What do you think?” inquired Kenny
“I want to say yes.” admitted Kelly
“So do I.” admitted Kenny
“So fuck it…lets do it.” Stated Kelly as Kenny nodded his head in agreement.
“Great.” Answered Liz as she went on to explain the process.
Within ten minutes Kelly and Kenny where standing by the edge of the same pool which had transformed Amanda only a few hours ago.
“So in a few hours we will be merpeople?” inquired Kenny
“Yes.” confirmed Liz
“It feels amazing.” confirmed Amanda
“Well lets get this started.” confirmed Kelly as both of them got into the water to begin their transformation into merpeople.
