While the Woods siblings started putting word out about the kittens, the vet and Mrs. Prescott advised they keep the kittens with he mothers, as it takes 8 weeks for the kittens to be weened and removing them sooner is not a good idea for the little ones. At least the elderly cat lady provided the needed baskets and crates for the time being.
Plenty of people showed interest. Most because of wanting a kitten, while certain others for the fact of who the mothers of the kittens had been just a few months ago. Though most of the latter category mostly came to gawk at the image of the cat moms and their kittens, while others looked at which one they would like, a process which involved petting them and picking them up at one point or another.
But that wasn’t the strangest thing happening that week – it was the lucky incidents.
One potential owner got lucky in being the thousandth customer of the restaurant and got a free meal, another found the right dress the want that was in their size, another managed to stumble upon an old friend they had lost contact with ages ago, someone else finally got their dream job/university admission, and etcetera, etcetera.
And it all happened after they had contact with the kittens.
“So…” Maggie started, reading through the message, from one Lily telling her of how lucky she had been to get into the prestigious academy she had been yearning for since she was young, again, “Did you grant cats powers or something?”
Wouldn’t be the weirdest thing Taylor had done, Maggie considers, but kittens giving good luck for random people? A little left field there.
“…not deliberately…” Taylor says, reading over Maggie’s shoulder, “Then again, I wouldn’t be too surprised if a certain someone did this for…I dunno know, a laugh or some manner of cleaning up the bad rep cats have.”
Maggie hums in thought, wondering why a goddess would make these particular kittens good luck talismans over all the other options, but decides against asking. Probably out of survival instinct and not really keen on meeting somebody who makes other people clean up after her.
“Well,” Putting down the phone, Maggie picked up a feather toy and got the attention of one kitten who looks the most interested in it, “Now we have an extra important reason to find these tykes good homes. Got any ideas where to start?”
Taylor tilts her head and considers the options, before a small smile forms, “I have an idea.”
