“Now that you finally have your dream dress,” Taylor came up to a very excited Darla, “It’s time for accessories!”
“But I already bought a pair of shoes?” Darla displays the pair of matching lavender kitten heels they just got from the store.
“C’mon, sis, what would a prom be if you didn’t go all out?” Taylor then all but pushed the younger into the next store and the two started to look for the right ones. They considered gloves, the short and long opera ones, but decided on off-white pearl bracelets and a white choker with a matching white (read: see-through) heart attached to it, before they wondered around the store to look for something else they could be missing, when Darla picked up a small tiara and tried it before a mirror.
“You look very cute with that tiara.” Taylor said.
Darla put it back, “Yeah, but it’s kind of childish looking. I do want something on my head…”
Taylor hummed and looked around for the right thing, “How about…” She picks up a pink headband with a flower attached to the side, “…something like this? Looks cute and can work better than a tiara.”
Darla took the headband and gave it a look over. It does look nice and the flower is pretty, just the wrong colors, “Hmm…Let’s see if we can find something that works better.”
“Anything specific?” Taylor’s hand is already deep in the bin of headbands and digging around it.
“Well, the headband is either white or pastel lavender and the flower is the opposite color, maybe?”
“Any specific flower in mind?” The one Taylor grabbed already switched colors to match.
Darla looked at the displayed headbands and their flowers, but found nothing that specifically clicked, “No, just something pretty.”
Taylor made the flower look like a white chrysanthemum, before pulling it out, “How about this one?”
Darla gasped as she saw it, “It’s perfect! Oh my gosh, how do you keep finding this stuff! Like Lady Luck is seriously favoring you right now!”
“Well, I did touch those kittens that are rumored to give good luck.”
“I’m serious! Whenever you set your mind on something, you always succeed, even if it seems impossible! It’s like, as if the world rearranges itself to be in your favor!” Darla exclaimed and saw Taylor’s face going from snickering to worrying for a split second before a new grin appeared, “Yeah, you got me, I’m a genie who pretends to be a human.”
The two exchanged a laugh, though Darla could hear some undertone of tenseness to it. Her mind flashed back to the strange list she had found weeks ago.
“Wanna grab a smoothie? I think they have some new flavors to try out.”
Darla agrees and the two go to buy their chosen items, Darla deciding to not think about this event. For now at least.
