Its was the obnoxious customer who had just departed nine minutes earlier after slamming that donkey mask on the counter
with such rudeness.
There was a few seconds of silence as the dragon and his
possibly repenant fox customer stood there.
On the part of ex Police Constable Harry Puzzler the former
town law enforcement officer wasn't actually staring at Galuthel
since he'd been lliterally as "blind as a bat" and then some ever
since the accident the rookie cop had caused two decades earlier
had left the towns fox cop blinded.
Galuthel had opened his shop after that accident so knew nothing
about Harry Puzzler and the accident that had cut short the
smart fox detectives career.
Since the blind fox was too proud to wear darkened
sunglasses or carry a white cane
the dragon shopkeeper hadn't even realized that the fox
had actually been blind.
Normally Harry Puzzler wouldn't have entered the dragon's shop
since these days he usually sat in both his inner and outer darkness
in the apartment he rented with his Disability Pension
boozing his sorrows away.
However after 2 decades the blind ex police detective had
learned that rookie cop who had accidentally blinded him 2 decades
earlier had vanished at the same time the Police Department's
safe had been broken into and its contents purloined.
Harry Puzzler had thus gone to the dragon's mask shop in homes
a mask could magically restore his sight
so he could take on what the ex detective sensed was a
case bigged then just a missing cop and a broken into Police safe.
