Diane looked over the contract. "It says you must forever sacrifice your ability to bear a man's child."
Caroline gasped. "No way!"
"Ah, a pity, that." Gerald sighed.
"Hold on, love, let me think." Diane held up a perfectly manicured finger. "Tell me, Gerald, can I ask for a contract, but keep it without agreeing to it immediately, keeping the same terms."
He considered that. "I could add that as a stipulation of the deal. It may affect the price, however."
"Diane..I don't really want to have sex with a man, but I might want a child some day..."
"I know, love. Even I, who have no interest in men whatsoever, might desire that in time. But trust me, I have had a thought on the matter. Gerald, would you be a gentleman and find out if it would be possible for a woman to gain the ability to give another woman a child?"
Caroline gasped. "Wait, what?"
Gerald chuckled. "I presume without becoming a man yourself?"
"Yes, I would prefer to remain perfectly female." Privately, Diane thought that it would be interesting to try out a male organ, but only on a trial basis.
"Just a moment." There was a brief pause, and Gerald produced another contract out of thin air, handing it to Diane.
She looked it over carefully. "Ah, so, it says here I could gain the ability to impregnate a woman with my child, but I could only do this six times of my choosing, but the cost is that I would give up the ability to produce or bear male children."
"So you can only have daughters, then?" Caroline frowned, but she had to admit, that wasn't too bad.
"I will agree to these terms. Don't think this means you have to agree to yours, my love."
"No, if you're going to sacrifice something for me, then I have to."
"It's noble of you, darling, but I may use this ability to grant a child to another woman besides yourself. So you see, my actions aren't entirely altruistic." Diane carefully pointed the fact out.
"Even if you only give me one daughter, it's more than I ever expected. I accept."
Both papers burst into flames. Gold wedding bands appeared on both girl's hands, and a marriage certificate and an invoice for a very expensive wedding (to be redeemed at a later date) materialized before them.
"So! The contract is made. You never married your husband, Caroline. Instead, the two of you are now married- while illegal in this state, there are other places where a girl of Diane's age may wed. This normally requires the approval of the girl's parents, but you have now been emancipated, my dear." He nodded to Diane. "Legally, you are considered an adult in the eyes of the law. As for the social ramifications of your union, if anything threatens your livelihoods due to the knowledge of your bond becoming public, you are protected. I should point out, however, that not being blatant about your state of matrimony will make things go easier for you. That is to say, the methods by which you will be protected might not necessarily sit well with you. My clients always keep their ends of the bargain, but they have great latitude when doing so."
Diane rose to stand behind her bride, placing her hands on the smaller woman's shoulders. Caroline leaned back against her 'husband'. "Is it alright to at least wear our rings in public?" Diane asked.
"Yes, that should be fine. You may find that people won't notice them unless attention is brought to them, however."
Diane kissed the top of her wife's head. "I find this acceptable."
Caroline just smiled happily.
"Is there anything else I can help you both with?" Gerald grinned.
