Picking up her spoon, Lisa digs in clumsily. For every mouthful she eats, she estimates another 2 end up on her clothes. Lisa quickly empties the bowl.
With a slightly annoyed, slightly bemused look her mom says, "Do you think you got any in your mouth?"
"Sorry I was excited," Lisa mumbles.
Her mother laughs, "If you say so."
"Are we going home now?"
"In a minute. You're definitely not getting in the car like that. Come on let's get you cleaned up."
Lisa is marched to the bathroom past several other groups. Seeing how everyone towers over makes Lisa nauseous. Suddenly, Lisa's eyes go wide as she is spotted by her best friend Paige who walks over.
"Hi Mrs. Hamilton," Lisa cringes as Paige's voice jumps an active into a childish tone, "and hi Lisa."
"Oh it's good to see you Paige. I know you're not being paid right now but could you do me a favor?"
"Let me guess it involves cleaning ice cream off a certain someone," Paige says as she taps Lisa on the nose.
Lisa is about ready to melt into the ground as she's handed off to her former best friend. Now what? Babysitter? Her opinion isn't being asked regardless.
As she uses some wet paper towels to clean Lisa, Paige muses, "Well you certainly made a mess of yourself. And I don't think I've ever seen you this quiet. Is everything all right?"
Lisa mutters something noncommittal and waits desperately for her mom to come back to take her home soon. After an eternity, she finally returns with a change of clothes from the car and Lisa realizes how young she must be when she sees...
