John remained under the bed for the next hour. She didn’t get a chance to escape. To make matters worse the bra she was wearing wasn’t as comfortable anymore. She felt different.
Bill had remained on the bed as Sara had showered. Then while Bill apparently showered Sara had used the bedroom John was hiding in to get dressed. John had managed to move slightly so that she could get a glimpse of the dressing table mirror. In that mirror she had watched Sara putting on a pink dress. John had to admit that it did make Sara look very classy. It must have been difficult to put on though as Sara seemed to struggle for an inordinate amount of time to get the back zipper done up.
John had to stay under bed longer when Bill returned. At least Bill was now dressed. John was surprised to hear Bill giving Sara advice about her make-up and her hair. He was speaking to Sara as if she knew nothing about make-up. It took forever for Sara to beautify herself to Bill’s satisfaction. John couldn’t believe that Sara had fallen for someone who seemed so controlling. Perhaps that was where he had gone wrong? John had never thought about telling Sara how to groom herself. But maybe she had wished to be “a submissive”
Eventually to Johns relief the two left the room. Sara was wearing pink high heels that Bill had selected from the wardrobe that must also belong to the mysterious Janelle. Sara appeared to struggle to walk in the heels but John decided that it was just a ploy by that unfaithful bitch to hold the arm of her lover. After what had happened John knew that her marriage to Sara was over.
John waited until the clip clop of Sara’s heels told her that the two lovers were downstairs on the tiles before she began to wiggle out from under the bed. She went to the bedroom door but didn’t leave the room until she heard Bill’s car moving down the driveway.
She turned around to survey the mess the room had become but stopped in shock when she saw her reflection. Staring back at her was not the young version of Sara she had been for the last 24 hours. In the mirror was a statuesque young woman with a luscious crop of long red hair.
John could remember seeing this woman before. Once he (when John had been in his old body) had been out in the garden doing something near the fence when this girl had walked out with Bill and climbed into Bill's Porsche. She was drop dead gorgeou and John had found himself tongue-tied. Bill had waved to John and said hello but John hadn’t replied. The girl had just given him a pitying smile.
Now John put two and two together and realised she was now the girl in the mirror. She was still clutching the medallion in her hand and knew what must have happened. She could remember getting zapped when she had first wiggled under the bed. The medallion must have touched something that belonged to this redheaded goddess. John lifted up the bed spread and looked in her former hiding place. Sure enough, there was a pair of sandals underneath the bed.
Now what was John to do? She had the medallion but wouldn’t be able to use it for another 11 hours or thereabouts. She was stuck as this redhead and didn’t even know what her name was – unless of course she was the Janelle, that Sara had talked about? Unlikely John thought. Sara didn’t have any friends as young or as good looking as this girl. John assumed she was now in the body of one of Bill’s floozies.
She had a quick look around the room to see if she could uncover any clues that might reveal her new identity. There were no handbags or diaries or photo’s in the room. What could she do? She had to get out of this house. She could not be found here when Bill and Sara returned. But she could now also not return to her own house. She tried to calm down and think of a way out of her predicament.
