Miranda reached into the closet, pulling out a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and putting them on, then sitting down to lace up a pair of shoes. She paused for a moment...something seemed new about this.
Meanwhile, Jeff's frontal lobe continued to shrink. With it, his ability to make complex decisions. However, there was enough extra room for additional olfactory systems. His nostrils flared, taking in the scents of the room.
His own memories became completely incomprehensible to him. He didn't understand what the Chronivac was, so, the computer sitting in the room was suddenly completely uninteresting to him. He wandered around the room, sniffing items, the information returned being understandable to him, and more so then the mess of memories he had.
Miranda looked at him. "Come on...I thought you wanted to go for a walk....you're all over the place," she said.
He turned, and his face broke out into a big grin, beneath eyes that no longer looked bewildered...just the look of a typical human now...glazed over...as if the occupant had checked out and turned off the lights.
Miranda grabbed a leash, somehow knowingit was there, her mind filling with new information with each moment. She headed outside with Jeff. She spotted another dog with her back to them, and another human, and guided Jeff over.
The dog seemed to be trying to get the human to move forward, and she wasn't. Jeff tugged on the leash, wanting to see.
"What's wrong with you today?" Sandy said. She turned around and spotted the human moving toward her, husky in tow. "Lilly, this is Jeff." Sandy said, "You know Jeff!"
He walked over to Lilly and started sniffing her. Lilly stood and let him sniff her, and she found herself sniffing his butt too, to get his scent.
Sandy and Miranda were speaking, she wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying as her head was spinning. She had to resist.
"Hello, Miss Perkins," Miranda said.
"Hello, Miranda," Sandy said to her neighbor. The teenage husky was a sweet girl...she'd taken Lilly for walks a few times with her and Jeff.
"Have you noticed anything...strange today?" Miranda asked.
"Other than Lilly? She just suddenly stopped, as if something scared her. At least she's back to normal now," Sandy commented. "I guess Jeff snapped her out of whatever it was. Those two have always been good friends."
Miranda looked over. "They look a bit sweet on each other," she observed.
"Well, she is a bit more mature than he is, but...who are we to stand in the way of love?" Sandy said, pulling out her phone to snap a picture of the two humans being affectionate.
"I...does this seem backward to you somehow?" Miranda asked.
