Darren was still dumbfounded by the power of the rings. Not only had he transformed his elderly Algebra teacher into a teenage prodigy, no one appeared to be the wiser.
"Wait a minute hold on," Steven exclaimed. "Are you telling me Ms. Wright isnt our teenage teacher?"
"No she used to be old," Darren said. "Like real old, and boring."
"Well it is Algebra," Hannah shrugged. "Its supposed to be boring."
As Darren and his friends now talked, they began to wonder what exactly they could do. The impossible seemed possible now, the world was their oyster. What could they do with something that could actually change reality.
As the trio talked, Darren's attention was drawn to a fat tabby cat that appeared to be following him. Darren had seen the cat after they had left school. The cat itself was nothing extraordinary, just an overweight black tabby cat. As the three got closer to Darren's home though, he began to notice that the cat seemed to be following them. "Hey you guys see that cat?"
Hannah and Steven paused, turning around to see a fat tabby cat now sit down and stare at them. "What about it," Steven asked.
"I think its following us."
Hannah and Steven scoffed as they now turned back to Darren. "I think your being paranoid," Hannah stated. Darren though couldn't shake this nagging feeling. Cautiously the teen now approached the tabby cat, now noticing that the cat had deep red eyes.
"Okay you," Darren grumbled. "Who are you and why are you following us?"
"Darren you sound crazy," Hannah sighed. "Can we just go home?"
"You should listen to your girlfriend. She seems to be the brains in this outfit."
The teens jaws dropped, had the cat just spoke to them?!? Still shell shocked they watched as the fat tabby cat now stood on its hind legs, placing it front paws on its hips.
"You can talk?!" Steven exclaimed.
"Duh," Rexie scoffed. The familiar now narrowed her eyes as she glared at Darren and Hannah. "Two things. One your girlfriend here really hurt me when she kicked me. I wasnt going to hurt you kid, just scare you."
"Um sorry," Hannah said sheepishly.
"Wait your the demon I saw," Darren shouted.
Rexie nodded as she now scanned the teens. "Yeah I am," she said. "And that brings me to my second point. I was going to ask for the Rings back but, after watching you I can tell, they've bonded to you."
Darren and his friends now seemed completely befuddled, studying the chains as Rexie shook her head. "I was really hoping for a quiet retirement," she sighed. "But you had to make things difficult."
"So what dos6that mean," Darren asked.
"It means kid," Rexie stated. "That I'm about to introduce you to the woman that was guarding the Rings. Congratulations kid, you're about to learn magic."
