Darren's day was amazingly quiet after talking with Yuriko. As the bell sounded the teen quickly went towards Yuriko's home, still unsure of what was awaiting him.
As Darren entered the home, he paused as he saw Yuriko talking with two middle age women. Yuriko seeing the teen smiled, slowly standing to greet him.
"Hello Darren," she said warmly. "I'd like you to meet my older cousin Kari and Tricia, the Dragon Queen."
Darren gazed at the two women in confusion. Kari and Tricia didnt look a day over 50! How could either one of them be older than Yuriko?
"Darren is having some doubts about you two being older than I," Yuriko chuckled. Before Darren could answer, Yuriko pointed to her temple. "Telepathy Darren," she said. "An ability I plan on teaching to you in due time. For now allow Kari and Tricia to show what they can do."
Darren now watched as the middle aged Asian womans form began to shift. Kari's mouth began to push outwards, dark black fur covering her body before nine tails sprouted from behind her.
Tricia now also began to change, the womans eyes taken on a deep amber hue as two golden dragon wings sprouted from her back. "Hope it's okay I dont go completely dragon," Tricia stated. "Rather not wreck your house Yuki."
"Whoa hold on," Darren exclaimed. "Shes a dragon? Like a REAL dragon?!"
"Well yes," Yuriko stated. "Things are slightly complicated. You see Kari and Tricia were both mortal. They obtained their immortality a few years back."
Darren looked obviously confused, magic was obviously more complicated than he thought if people could actually become immortal. Yuriko now invited Darren to sit down as she explained Kari and Tricia.
Kari had been a member of the royal family before being reduced to a kit by Lilith. For most if her life she had aged like an mortal, that is until she hit 80.
On Kari's 80th birthday she obtained something that was very rare for any kitsune, a nineth tail. As Kari became a nine tail, Liliths spell was broken. Kari regained her kitsune lifespan and became immortal. Since then she had returned to the clan.
Tricias story was just as interesting. As an infant, Tricia and her family were made honorary members of the dragons. Throughout her life Tricia was trained in magic by not only wizards but dragons as well.
It was during these lessons that Tricia and the Dragon King Matt (Darren raised an eyebrow at the Dragon Kings name. He never expected a dragon to be named Matt) fell in love. The only problem was that Tricia was human, while Matt was a dragon. It was at that time Tricia discovered an ancient transformation spell. Tricia used this spell, foregoing her humanity and becoming a dragon.
Darren nodded, shell shocked at everything he had been told. Now he wondered why two immortal beings were in Yuriko's home, and if he was in trouble. "So, what brings you here today mame?"
"You were right Yuki he is very polite," Kari smirked.
"And a nervous wreck," Tricia chuckled. "Just so you know Darren you arent in any trouble. When we discovered the rings had discovered a new Catalyst we had to meet him."
"Especially when said Catalyst created a kitsune child," Kari added. "By the way Sachiko is an absolute treasure. The child is the perfect mix of adorable and mischievous."
"Thanks I think," Darren said. "So, is their anything I can help with?"
"Mostly they wished to meet you," Yuriko stated. "They plan on checking in from time to time."
"Which reminds does Lynne know about the Catalyst," Tricia asked.
"No not yet," Yuriko sighed. "And considering everything that happened its probably best she doesnt know just yet."
Darren looked worried as the mood of the three women became sullen. Yuriko could see Darren's concern and quickly gave him the warm smile he was beginning to grow accustomed to. "A story for another time Darren," she said. "Now on to our lessons. I hope you're ready."
