There were unhappy mumbles of 'No' from the family members.
It didn't work.... So why... Why did Colin feel so relieved? 'Must be because it means another restriction on my power I can toy around with.' He convinced himself.
"Will you forget about our conversation we just had when I step away from you? Will you go back to your lives without questioning anything? Will you forget and let go of all the desired I placed in your minds?"
'Yes' 'Yes.' were the echoes. Colin walked away, the family breaking out of their line and going back to their day. That was two for two for Coolin's power not working on a subject due to a way the question couldn't be asked. It seemed even if he retconned family connections, each transformation was treated individually rather than as a whole (then again, he HAD asked each of them, rather than asking just one of them, so that might explain it), or maybe he COULDN'T retcon family connections, even if Sally was now descendant from royalty.
Sally... if he was going to be the silently puppet master of the world of playthings, maybe he should have a queen, he could sculpted her into his ideal girlfriend... but then where would be any of the surprise?
Colin sighed and walked back to his friends, they all blinked when he got close, all believing he'd been there the entire time. He hoped that wasn't his conscience talking before, a sense of right and wrong would really put a damper on this.
"Hey guys," Colin said.
"Hey what?" His sister asked.
Ugh. Right. They remember him being with them that whole time. "Nothing, never mind."
It had been Colin's idea to bring his friends along on his trip through the park, but now he wondered if there had been a point to it. So far he'd been thwarted twice on transforming someone after creating his statue. He imagined turning them into pendants for him to wear to restore whenever he pleased when he wanted to hang out with them, but that felt, well, maybe not too evil, but given how he'd seen how his power worked, he wanted to keep them in the dark about it for now.
What a drag. Maybe he should just, maybe just, HANG OUT with his friends? He could given 'travel size' forms later if it really became an issue.
He considered giving himself a harem or some junk, but that felt TOO trite! For now at least.
"Hey Rex, you brought an anti-grave ball for us to play soccer in the sky right?"
"Yes," he droned then said. "Of course I did!" He pulled a golden gleaning ball from behind his back the size of a soccer ball. "So, you, Jane, and her toy against me, Alli', and Sally?"
"Yes," you said, feel odd at giving that answer now.
"Works for me," Jane said. "And his name is Jack."
"Should be fun," Sally said.
"I'm game," Alister added.
The dragons and toy flew up into the sky. Colin wasn't sure what the rules were, but the the others clearly did as they split into teams, and Rex toss the ball into the air. Colin, still getting used to his new form as a novelty, was actually left in the dust as his friends ping-ponged the ball between each other. The sphere actually floating before it could land below the tree tops.
You finally figured out the park's bridges wee being used as goal lines of sorts as they flew down in a dive to catch the ball, and then crashed and tumbled. Ow! Ow! Ow! ow! You almost regret not making yourself invincible.
"Colin, you okay?" Jane asked.
"Are you an idiot?" Colin sarcastically said, then his eyes widened when he realized what he'd said.
"Yes," then her eyes dulled. "Duh, ya don't gotta be so mean 'bout it."
Ugh!
"Are you smart?"
"Yes," she droned. Then said in a far calmer and controlled voice then she'd had before, "Now I can't tell dear brother if you're being sarcastic or if you hit your head too hard."
Oy! Well. This was a mess. At least not a bad one.
