Darren was only too happy to leave Yuriko and the supposed dark lord. Everything that had happened since finding the rings had been overwhelming. He was in need of some much needed downtime.
Like any teenage boy the quickest and easiest way to relax was video games. Making his way up to his room, Darren and Steph now found themselves playing Darren's latest shooter. Unfortunately for Darren, even though Steph had changed from a teenage boy to a maid droid, she was still far better than him at video games.
Darren grunted in frustration as Steph once more made quick work of him. "Aw someone's angry," Steph teased.
"No I'm not," Darren grumbled. Steph laughed, playfully teasing the teen in much the same way Steven had done.
"Poor Darren," Steph giggled. "All that power and you still get your butt whooped by little old me."
"Yeah, yeah," Darren grunted. "Keep it up and I'll turn you into a can opener." Steph could only laugh, she knew Darren wouldnt do that, even with his new found powers. He just hated losing so badly at video games. Standing and stretching he now made his way to his bedroom window. Maybe he could get Steph to give him some tips to get better.
"Cheer up Darren," Steph said happily. "We can always do something else."
Darren simply nodded, gazing out the window. He paused as he looked at Steven old house. Steven's parents lived in his neighborhood, a few doors down from him and Hannah. Watching he could see Steven's parents now exit their home.
"Oh look it's the Cartwrights," Steph stated. "Always felt bad for them."
"How come," Darren asked.
"Poor Mrs. Cartwright could never have kids," Steph sighed. "They always wanted one but it just never happened."
A pang of guilt now spread through Darren as he thought of Steven's parents. He had never considered Steven's parents when he had altered Steven. While Steph was happy, his former parents were left with a part of them missing. Maybe, just maybe, he could do something about it?
Darren glanced around the neighborhood, noticing an elderly man now meandering down the street. Old Bob was the local wino. Everyone knew the elderly homeless man, he would walk the town panhandling and collecting cans for spare change. Darren now rubbed his chin, he had the power to help all three of them.
Darren watched as Old Bob began to change, the grizzled old bums hair going from grey to blond. Bob began to look healthier, his back straightening as he reentered the prime of his life. Now a man of 30, Bob looked healthier than he had in quite sometime with long blond hair and a thick beard. Still, the man continued to travel backwards.
Bob's body continues to strengtehn, the years of alcohol and life in the streets slowly being wiped away. By the time Bob reached 20 he was looking much skinnier than Darren was used to while his wild beard appeared to be thinning.
As Bob crept into his teenage years he began to lose even more mass, his muscles and beard thinning. Slowly now Bob began to grow shorter, puberty reversing itself as Bob aged backwards. Darren watched as Bob's beard receded, going from a scraggly teenage beard, to peach fuzz, to baby smooth. Finally stopping Bob's regression at 13, Darren now changed the old buns baggy clothing, shifting them into a tshirt and Jean's.
Bob blinked as if coming out of a daze before running towards Steven's old parents. Both adults had a look of mild annoyance as they called for their son. Reality had altered now, Bob was the Cartwrights son and if he didnt hurry they were going to be late for dinner.
"Have you ever noticed Bob moves so slow," Steph stated, unaware that only moments before he had been an elderly man. "I know hes a friend of yours but he moves like molasses. Pretty sure he'll be late to his own funeral."
Darren could only smile and nod. Getting to know Bob would be interesting.
