After the end of the day, Johnny and Jeff were surprised when Johnny didn't revert back to being the father of the family and Joe to the baby of the family. In one sense, Johnny wasn't all that worried about it, as it meant having more time to be young and have fun, but Jeff concerned at what had delayed the automatic revert did some investigating, only to discover that his mother was expecting yet another "oops" baby--though in this reality it was her only "oops" baby. And so, until their new baby brother was born, the change to reality was held in stasis and couldn't be altered--one of the many safety features which were part of the Chronivac Jeff discovered. Another being that the Chronivac wouldn't let someone grow younger than a fertilized egg. The existence of these safety protocols oddly comforted Jeff by knowing that it wouldn't actively or inadvertently lead to the destruction or purposeful death of a subject it transformed--that was good to know. It was designed to change, transform or alter a subject in a myriad assortment of ways, but non-existence was distinctly off the table.
Johnny meanwhile had the opportunity to finish out second grade once again, enjoy a summer vacation, and start third grade all while his former wife, now mother, grew more and more pregnant. To some extent Johnny knew things weren't supposed to be like this, but on the other hand, he couldn't really think of it being any other way and was quick to fall into the role of little brother and oft forget the man he was supposed to be, somewhat annoying at times, while still something of a pal to hang around--and eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to being a big brother. Jeff somewhat regretted having to turn Johnny back into "dad" from how Johnny talked on and on about how great of a big brother he was going to be--though he knew he had to. And in some respects, the way Johnny went on about it reminded Jeff of when he'd been Johnny's age and eager to be a big brother--well, at least in this reality.
Joe as Cheryl grew more and more pregnant became more worried and frantic by everything--his career (that he'd taken over from the previously adult John) was high pressured, his wife pregnant at such an advanced age bringing its own challenges and health concerns, left Joe stressed out, and often wishing for a simpler, easier life for him to escape to--something which Jeff noticed and truly began to feel bad about as he knew his little brother Joey was underneath that adult exterior.
Into the world was born Jasper--keeping with the J name theme of the family just in time for Thanksgiving, when the entirety of the family would be home: Justin the eldest child was home from college with his new girlfriend Sarah--and in this reality seemed to have his life together a lot more than he'd previously had with his laid back attitude. Emily, Jeff's older sister by a year, was visiting for the holiday from her foreign exchange student program and was fully of stories about her foster family and the cute "foster brother" she was obviously sneaking around with if one paid attention to all the details she slipped up on telling. Grandma Betty, Cheryl's mother, was staying with them as well, and full of cantankerous observations--as was her nemesis at these family get-togethers, Great-Uncle Chuck, John's--now Joe's--Uncle, who purposely liked to irritate Betty with little pranks that he'd encourage the otherwise innocent Johnny to do on Betty.
Jeff, fresh off the lift of the restrictions of restoring everything to "normal" was considering making more of a shakeup from this family get-together, though conscious that he'd try to make sure nothing like another nine month extension would happen again--or at least if he did, it would be with changes he wouldn't come to regret over the course of those nine months.
