Near a town of...decent size, amidst an old forest, is a site one would expect from a spooky ghost story. A mansion situated in the middle of the woods - if not from the wear and tear that had happened to it, it would have honestly been quite majestic to witness. But at this point, the estate had been long abandoned, with no one attempting to take care of it. Naturally, rumors have floated around about it being haunted. However...
There was never and brutal murders, at least as far as anyone is aware. Instead, apparently... Everyone there had simply disappeared one day. Vanished without a trace, with no clues or hints as to what may have happened. Not just the members of the rich family who had lived there, but also the pets, servants, and anyone else who may have been there.
Aside from initial investigations, only a handful of people had even visited it. Rash explorers, thieves looking for something of worth, or schoolkids looking to prove their bravery... Despite the rumors of a haunting, there really haven't been many actual reports... And now, someone else had come to the home...
...
"It's finally over...? No more thorns?" From out of the bushes and trees surrounding the mansion, a young woman emerged. All roads to the place had already grown over. She really didn't have much of a choice but to push through the vegetation, as...unpleasant as it was. But now she found herself in a still rather overgrown courtyard. Sigh...
"Damn it, am I really going to do this...?" She thought out loud, brushing a branch or two out of her ponytail. A few days ago, a strange letter had been sent to her... It was brief, but...strange. Extremely strange. For whatever, a mysterious individual had asked her to come here and meet them. ...Just ot be safe, she did tell some close friends she'd come here, just in case she gets into trouble. She's not totally stupid. Just...well, this is probably pretty stupid of her, but at this point, she's come too far to just go back. And so, she slowly makes her way through the long grass to get to the entrance.
This young lady's name is actually Heida - she's a 25 year old employee at a local business back in town. Luckily, she didn't have work tomorrow, so now seemed like the least bad time to do this... That said, she had come right here from work, so she hadn't really had time to change - her white, button-up blouse and gray colored slacks remained, but it nothing else, she at least remembered to bring a pair of proper boots and a warm jacket...
Finally though, she got to the entrance. If not for the sorry state it was in, the door would have probably looked fairly impressive. It was large, with faint traces of paint left on it. And...it was already open. The lock had been broken long ago, and with no one to fix it... Well, it wasn't exactly difficult to enter. And enter she did, even if hesitantly. At the same time though, she fished up her phone and turned on the flashlight. Not as if there were any working lights inside.
"...Um, hello? I, uh, got a letter..." She hesitantly calls out. That feeling of 'this is a terrible idea' only grew inside of her. ...Who the heck actually is gullible enough to trust something like that? Ugh... But she didn't get an answer. Aside from the occasional gust of wind blowing through a broken window, the building was silent. Shining her flashlight around, she was met with different sights - the floor still had a carpet on it, with an off red color. It was moist, and...probably moldy in places, but she really didn't want to check that out. Tables, drawers and other furniture stood around, looking as dreary as expected. A chandelier was also laying on the floor in front of her. Safe to expect that it had fallen at some point. ...All in all, this place has definitely seen better days...
Taking a deep breath- well, first she was met with an unpleasant odor, probably from that carpet, but aside from that, she timidly stepped inside... Seeing as whoever sent the letter didn't respond... Maybe they're not even here? Perhaps she should just...look around for now. She's not the bravest person ever - far from it, but... At this point, why not? She'll just be careful, and things should be okay... Right?
