Andrew rolled his eyes. No way this thing granted wishes! But for some reason, part of him still wanted to say a wish.
He decided to go with something simple: the 13-year-old skinny weakling said, “I wish for super strength.”
Immediately, to his disbelief, the card in his hand changed. It now read, “Thank you for your business. You may make another wish in 24 hours.”
Andrew rubbed his eyes and convinced himself that he had somehow picked up another card.
He went home, carrying his backpack over one shoulder. When he tried to open the front door, he was shocked when the door came flying at him, laying him out on the porch.
“Andrew, did you rip the door off its hinges again?” his mother’s voice called. “Great, now your father will have to rehang it tonight!”
“Sorry Mom,” Andrew said shakily, getting to his feet and heading inside, to his room. There he saw a set of absolutely massive weights, and on experimentation realized he could lift them with ease.
He suddenly had some new memories coming into his mind: his strength, which had shown up due to a genetic condition when he was 10, was hidden from his classmates, even his best friend. The school administration knew and did their best to keep the secret and help him be normal. He wore baggy clothes and the school allowed him to change separately for Phys Ed, because although he was not heavy, he was lean and totally ripped underneath, which would not make sense to those who knew his nerdy appearance and personality.
Andrew pulled off his shirt and saw that he was indeed ripped. Although his chest wasn’t very big, his 8 abs were to die for, and he had toned biceps.
Andrew was ecstatic, already thinking about what he would ask the wishing machine for tomorrow.
