Josh glared at Ricky and Jared from where he sat at one of the picnic tables. His two 'friends' had abandoned him now that they knew they were being watched and could get in trouble. What was wrong with all these people. This whole place was fucked up and he was the only one who seemed to realize it. Of course, every time he tried to lash out against it it ended up coming out more like some teenage temper tantrum or bullying than trying to get someone else to see what was going on.
Josh hadn't wanted to come to this stupid weekend thing in the first place but his girlfriend had dragged him. Now she was missing and he was stuck in the body of some pubescent fawn. This whole thing sucked. And that trio of idiots was the worst of all. It looked like they fell right in line with this stupid camp.
He had another reason to hate them though. All three of them seemed to be attracted to guys. He didn't know if that was something to do with them before coming here or after, but it was an annoying reminder that this place had done that to him, too. He liked women, damn it, and here he was practically fawning every time he looked at one of the male counselors.
He had almost had himself kicked out, too. He was sure if he could get kicked out he would go back to normal. He didn't know why he was so certain, but he was. Except that stupid badger had just threatened him with KP duty instead of booting him out. He needed to up his game. He saw the perfect thing right on the ground. He hopped off the table and picked up the rock. If he beaned that stupid tiger hard enough they'd have to get rid of him. He wound up, getting ready to throw, he still remembered something from his college baseball years in his old life. He repeated his mantra he had made for himself this morning. His name was Josh Johnson, he was 30, he was a stock broker, he was successful, he wasn't a teenaged deer.
"I wouldn't do that." Came a soft voice. "Jared's got some serious claws when he choses to use them."
Josh turned to scowl at the source of the voice. It was Martin, standing and looking at Josh curiously, hands in his pockets.
"What the fuck do you want?" Josh grumbled as he bounced the rock in his hand.
"Nothing really. I was just giving Jared and Ricky some privacy. Looks like I get to be third wheel for a bit." The marten didn't seem to bothered by that. "I saw you over here and thought I'd try to, I dunno, bury the hatchet?"
Josh suddenly felt very guilty. He had been tormenting these three sure. But he had been thinking of them as the camp's puppets. But Martin actually wanted to make amends? "Whatever." Josh muttered as he dropped the rock. "This place is fucking stupid."
"Maybe if you gave it a chance instead of being a grumpy shit head." Martin smiled as he said it though.
Josh had to admit the other teen was kind of cute when he smiled. He watched Martin's muzzle for a moment, wondering what it would be like to kiss in his body, or even with another boy. No.. no.. he liked girls. GIRLS. So he flipped off Martin and stormed back to the cabin. He needed to find her and get out of here. But.. who was she? Josh couldn't even remember a name anymore, and her face was a blur. His face was a blur. He dropped down on his bunk and started crying. Nothing was making sense anymore.
