Kelly was excited to get back to her horses. The previous semester at college had kept her away from the family farm for the past 4 months, and she was ready for a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city. She had heard reports of the incoming Fusion Wave, but thought little of it. After all, she'd get to see her favorite horse, Goliath, soon!
And so she did. A few days back home, she was out brushing off his coat when the sky suddenly darkened, taking on a menacing reddish hue. She didn't even have time to remove the brush from Goliath's side when she was blinded by the flash. The Fusion Wave had struck!
Kelly awoke what had to have been several hours later, judging by the sun now low on the horizon. She had a throbbing headache, but that wasn't the main thing that felt off. She felt.... heavy, from the waist down. Far too heavy. Far too big. She slowly opened her eyes, feeling the soft grass beneath her as she lay, motionless, having been knocked unconscious during the Wave. When she tried to sit up, she felt her hips tug. Her legs felt wrong. Wait, no.... her legs felt gone! What the fuck?
She quickly looked back, and covered her mouth to stifle her scream. What she saw wasn't her own legs, but Goliath! "But where was his head?!" she thought, and then she noticed Goliath's tail swish. "And why can I feel that... oh, oh no! The fusion wave! I fused with Goliath!" She began to cry, unsure how to handle the sudden barrage of both physical and emotional feelings. Her favorite horse, gone, but she... she was him, now, right? She was connected to him, at any rate, but his head was missing. Gone. Poof. *He* was gone, and she was left to pilot his body in his place. And what a body that was! Kelly now found herself perched at the front of Goliath's body, standing 19 hands at the shoulder.
Before she could even think of standing up, though, she heard a cry from her parents' house. Who was it?
