Once again, it was a year where Mardi Gras was placed closely to other major holidays like Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day. However, because there was still a pandemic going, Mardi Gras celebration was more subdued than it has been usually. There wouldn't be any parades this year or wild parties. But at least the traditional colors of gold, green, and purple would still be hung up, even if the Lunar New Year festival was still going on. And one thing that could definitely still be done was the feasting. There was already an all-you-can-eat buffet set up with Chinese and Japanese cuisine (though with a few additional precautions for public health reasons). And for Mardi Gras, some Cajun and Creole dishes had been added to the spread. Though some people tend to overindulge to their own grievance. And it wasn't just humans who made errs in judgement.

"Uh, Dad, don't you think you're overdoing it a little?" asked Philip. He and his father were out on a double-date with Joanne and her daughter. After his father's conversion, Philip half-expected for Joanne to take an interest with him, but it seemed clear that Lars's case of RHS is bigger than Joanne's. Joanne might have been interested in Lars's big muscles, but his acting like a frat boy and piercing his nipples were turning him off. Nicole, however, was finding him rather interesting.
"Why should I?" asked Lars, "I'm young, fit, and I can eat whatever I want again." He helped himself to some more andouille sausage and rice.
"That's not necessarily true," said Joanne, "There are limits to what Animalians can eat."
"Yeah, yeah, no chocolates, but that's what all that carob's for, right?" asked Lars before eating some more szechuan beef.
"Even Animalians have to watch what they eat," said Nicole, "Just because the Animalia virus gives you the figure of a bodybuilder doesn't mean you can't ruin with bad health choices."
"I can work out later. I can indulge a little right now. It's Mardi Gras," said Lars before eating some gyudon.
"I'm a little more worried in the way you're pigging out right now," said Philip. Some pig Animalians gave some offended snorts at the next table. "No offense," said Philip to the pigs before turning back to his father, "You really think your stomach can handle all that spice?"
"Are you kidding? This body can handle anything," boasted Lars. But then an odd gurgling sound was heard from his stomach. "Uh...something's a little off," said Lars before gulping, "I don't feel so good." He put a hand over his mouth, stood up quickly, and rushed for the nearest trash can.
Philip, Joanne, and Nicole all winced as they could hear Lars throwing up all he ate at the buffet. That was one of the downsides of having giant fennec ears. "Looks like all that spicy food had a reaction with each other," said Nicole.
"And that, dear daughter, is why moderation is important," said Joanne.
"Don't turn this into a lecture," said Nicole in annoyance.
"I don't have to," said Joanne, everyone wincing as Lars retched again, "Lars is doing that by himself."
