Danny played with Christopher for a bit, helping him to build the promised sandcastle. Eventually the young kid ran to play at the water's edge and Danny took off his shirt and laid back to sun bathe for a bit, while both him and Hank kept an eye on the kid. He was trying to figure out what he was being guided to, why these lives.
"Are we going to talk about last night?" Hank said suddenly. He didn't sound upset, maybe a little confused. "We've been pretending nothing happened."
Last night? Jason thought about it focusing on Danny's memories. He wasn't Danny last night, though he was kind of him now. He remembered though with a hot flash of memory. Christopher had gone to bed, him and Hank were on the couch watching a movie, chatting, a few beers in them, then they kissed. He couldn't seem to tell which of them initiated it, but they did. They had each made excuses and went to their own rooms after. "Isn't that easier?" Danny asked, looking over to Hank. "You're my sister's husband, you're straight. It was obviously just an accident."
"Ex." Hank corrected. "And I'm not so sure it's that simple. These last few years.. I've been looking for someone and I always come home to you and Christopher." Hank was saying. They weren't making eye contact. "I'm happy with out family. My business is taking off, you're getting more contracts. Even Chris sees you as his other dad."
"I need to think." Danny replied as he relaxed under the sun. Both him and Jason did anyway. Stupid shoe store had landed him in another pit of drama. But wasn't that what he wanted? He wanted something that wasn't ordinary, wasn't normal. Rusty had been ashamed of being gay even if he loved someone else.. Danny? He tried to think on it. Well, it probably had to do with that kiss, why he had left his life behind.
Hank was respecting his need to think, staying quiet. At least until Christopher came back then he took his turn to entertain the kid, letting Danny enjoy the sun for a while. Danny excused himself for a short walk. Hell he was in the body of an actual model at the beach for the day, he might as well enjoy it. Even if the person it belonged to was having a little drama. It felt good to show off his body and strut around a little. He also didn't want to keep getting shoved in lives with drama to solve.
Was it drama though? Would it be so bad? Hank was hot in his own way, and he obviously loved his pieced together family unit. Jason felt Danny loved it, too. He decided to stop worrying why Danny had left. The real Danny. On his way back he found an ice cream place near where they were on the beach and brought back enough for everyone.
Hank thanked him with a squeeze of the hand and he felt his heart lurch again. Definite crush. Had Danny made a mistake leaving? It also made Jason wonder if leaving his old life behind would be a mistake. No, he said he wouldn't worry about that.
Soon the sun was beginning to set and they packed up to head back to the beach house rental they had not far off. Danny looked for the shoe store as they got back up onto the boardwalk but couldn't seem to find it. He put it out of mind and kept walking.
