You saw a couple of people that stood out from the rest of the crowd at the corner of two of the clinic’s thoroughfares as they’re wearing lab coats instead of the basic monochrome underwear that you and the rest of the clinic’s patrons do. What’s more, they were both holding clipboards, and the woman looked to be handing out fliers to passerby while the man was talking to whomever would listen around them. You moved a bit closer to hear what exactly he was saying.
“-anyone and everyone of any gender, body type, or age. The positions are new alongside the clinic’s grand opening, but they’re filling up fast. Grab a pamphlet, or, better yet, fill out the paperwork here to apply. I can’t emphasize this enough: an application all but guarantees acceptance. An opportunity like this doesn’t come by every day!”
The man’s eyes met yours, as you seemed to be the only person stopping to pay him any mind as the throng of people meandered past. His face lit up and he began addressing you directly.
“How about you! You seem like an enterprising young man. Surely you won’t let such a lucrative opportunity pass you by!” he said excitedly.
“I’m sorry, what opportunity are we talking about exactly?” you asked, “I only caught the last bit of what you said.”
“Gainful employment! And at your leisure, no less!” he said, enthusiasm only building. “You can keep your current job, or if you’re a student, keep up with your classes without any alterations to your schedule. We’re just looking for some interested volunteers to exchange a bit of their time for some spare spending money, and at rates much more lucrative than you’d likely suspect! What’s more, while we’ll pay you cash, you can elect to instead be compensated with any product or service we offer here at the clinic at a 30% discount instead, and any leftover salary will still go straight to your pocket. If you like what we do here, you really can’t afford to pass this offer up.”
What he said sounded intriguing. You could always use a bit more cash, and while you hadn’t really explored the clinic that much yet, you already had a suspicion that you’d be coming back even after the opening, assuming it wasn’t too expensive.
“Alright, you’ve got my attention,” you replied, bringing a grin to the man’s face. “What exactly would I be doing if I signed on?”
“Ah, excellent, excellent! I promise you’ll want to jump on this while the offer’s open. You see, the clinic is looking for some people to help...”
