…grow spare body parts that we offer to sell to clients,” he said.
“I’m sorry, what?” you said in surprise.
“I take it you haven’t explored the clinic much yet,” he says with a smile. “But once you do, you’ll find a few shops where you can purchase some stock parts to transfer instead of having to find another person willing to swap what they have. While some of these body parts are donated, sold, or exchanged to the clinic by our customers, many are grown de novo in house. Unfortunately, we can’t offer the tech for this to our customers as it’s a cornerstone of our business model, but it’s something we’re capable of. However, the body parts we grow still need a host to copy from and to actually grow the body part on.”
“Wow, that’s pretty crazy,” you said in surprise. “So if I sign on, what exactly would I be growing, and what would it be like?”
“Well,” he answers, “What we need day to day fluctuates with demand obviously. It can be anything from appendages to genitals to facial features to even whole chunks of the body depending on what we’re short on at the time. Sometimes we need a host to grow several copies of the same part, and sometimes we need to modify the host first so that they prototype the part we’re looking for correctly.”
“Modify? How so?” you asked in confusion.
“Well, because the parts that we grow are duplicates of whatever the host currently possesses, we’ll normally change the base with whatever essence is necessary to typify the crop that we want. Our experts are quite creative at this process, and you’d be surprised at what all they can do.” He thought for a second on how exactly to explain it, before continuing. “For instance, suppose we need some abnormally large phalluses. Some growth essence may be applied to you temporarily in order for your base part to fit the mold of the new parts we’re trying to grow. It’s cheaper to modify one prototype than ten copies. In some cases, we may need the host to make a temporary transfer of another body part they didn’t originally possess so that it can be duplicated on them.”
“Wait, did you say ten phalluses?” you said in surprise.
The woman giggled at your response, and the man shot her a look before assuaging your concern.
“That’s a bit more of an extreme example than normal,” he assured you, “but such asks can happen during times of high demand like today. Also, like I said, it isn’t always sexual or secondary sexual characteristics, though I’ll admit they’re often in high demand. And if you do get asked to grow an abnormally numerous batch of parts or essence, you’ll be compensated fairly for the excess.”
Though it sounded strange, you couldn’t say you weren’t interested. You asked for one of the woman’s pamphlets and gave it a look over. The whole growth process typically took between two and forty-eight hours depending on what was being grown, and there typically weren’t any side effects other than some minor fatigue and an increased appetite if the pamphlet could be believed. What’s more, the information you read claimed that the hosts often had some say in where exactly different body parts were grown to prevent discomfort or inconvenience. Also, you couldn’t help but raise your eyebrows at the example rates of compensation they outlined.
“Alright, I’m in!” you declared. “How do I sign up?”
“Here, follow me,” the woman said, handing her clipboard and pamphlets to her partner. “we can get you started immediately.
The next few minutes were a whirl of answering questions and filling out paperwork, and before you knew it, the woman was getting some vials of mysterious liquids ready and explaining your first job.
“So, we thought we had more than adequate supplies ready for the grand opening, but demand has been even higher than we anticipated,” she explained. “We really need to help backfill some of our exhausted stock as soon as possible, so we’re getting you started by growing…”
