You didn’t see hide nor hair of Nanako until lunchtime. Everyone was at the cafeteria either eating, socializing, or some other activity. You were holding a tray with a ham sandwich meal, looking for an open spot to sit. As it would happen, there was an open spot next to the cat girl herself who appeared to have packed her own bento. You sat down and tucked into your lunch, fascinated by the way she sat like a cat.
She looked over at you, and her eyes sparkled with recognition. “Waaah~! Nyu must be Doe-san! It’s me, Nanako-chan, nya~! I have homeroom with nyu!”
“Y-yeah, I noticed,” you say, “I... no, probably too rude to ask that... umm... So, I noticed that you made your own lunch?”
“Nya? Oh, nyeah!” she smiled, “Grilled salmon with rice and fruit milk! Does Doe-san want a taste?”
“N-no, not really,” you reply, “I don’t like seafood all that much.”
“Oh,” Nanako’s ears drooped, “Okay... I didn’t knyow... that someone could not like fish... Maybe I’ll make octopus weenies next time I wanna share, nya~!”
“I... sure, if that’s what you want to do,” you reply. Idiot.
“Oh, hey!” Nanako tilted her head, “Does Doe-san want to hang out with Nanako-chan after school? I have something else I wanna share with you!”
