The Magic Shop

Lower on the ladder

"Mom, relax I'm captain of the cheer team, I can handle it." Stacy snapped back, obviously toting her skill to try and emphasize her success. However, Stacy soon found something wrong.

She felt a little weird for a second, but then the feeling passed.
"What th-" She began before feeling something was wrong.

Her clothes, she couldn't feel the wind on her legs anymore. She glanced down to check what was wrong when her mouth fell wide open. She was wearing a totally different outfit. For starters, she was wearing a Supernatural t-shirt with a long sleeve shirt underneath that. She could feel herself wearing a tighter bra, and below her waist was a pair of jeans that didn't even have any rips in them. She placed her hand on her face to find herself wearing glasses. She had always needed them, but she wore contacts most of the time.

"Wh- what?" Stacey muttered.

That's when her mother's voice came again from her phone.
"I said, you're right. I know you get anxious baby, and you're no captain of the cheer team I agree, I didn't mean to dump so much on you. Have a nice day at Chess club and call me back later." She replied in a much nicer tone.

"Chess club? Wait what m-" She began to protest when her mother hung up.

Stacy lowered the phone, still in shock. How were her clothes different? Did she lose her memory or something? No, that wouldn't explain what her mother said. Was she drugged or something? As Stacey's mind raced, she suddenly got an idea. She opened her phone to confirm she wasn't crazy, only to realize that things were worse than she imagined.

The first thing she did was go to her camera, only to be met face to face with some black mirror counterpart to herself. She looked the same, but there were many clear signs that something was off. For starters, her hair was a curly, frizzy mess, just held together by a scrunchie behind her. Her face was devoid of any but the most basic of makeup, and she had a bit more acne poorly covered up here and there.

"No, no no no." Stacy thought as she browsed through the camera roll.

There were WAY fewer pictures, but all of them told the same story. Some pictures of her nerdier self at the piece wearing a one piece instead of a bikini, some pics of her with some of the nerdier kids at school, and a lot less friends over all, and even some shots of her working at the library taking selfies with some of the older people there. What finally hit her hardest was one with her sitting amongst a group of mostly boys, with the banner "Chess club" above them.

"H-how is this possible!" She screamed, finally freaking out. She began to run down the block, not caring or looking back at anything.

By the time she reached it, she was suddenly out of breath. Such a distance would have been nothing to her a few minutes ago, yet now it took her breath away.

She quietly poked her head around the bend to see the park field where her team practiced. Standing in front of the line of girls was Stacy's bestie Chelsea, now apparently leading the group without her. What's worse was the number of girls was one higher than normal, with Stacy noticing one of the girls who just barely didn't make last tryouts now in the line up.

"They replaced me." Stacy thought. "My whole life... it actually changed." She internally cried out. Her eyes weld up slightly. What had caused this? What was going on?

That's when...
