Marcia groaned loudly from boredom. It was taking forever for Christine to come back! She looked around the crib, wondering if there might be something she could use to distract herself with. The crib only held a blanket and a teddy bear, but on a shelf just above the crib, which she could barely reach, there were some dolls.
Eager to occupy herself with something, Marcia stood on her tiptoes and grabbed the dolls off the shelf. She then sat back down in the crib.
“Hmm.” She frowned at the dolls’ outfits. “I don’t wike that.” Marcia happily changed up the dolls’ outfits, swapping their tops, bottoms, dresses, and shoes until the outfits suited her own personal style more. “Better! Now, we can pway.”
Marcia was quickly caught up in her playtime with the dolls. She didn’t notice when she peed herself again, thoroughly soaking her diaper, nor did she even notice when the door to the nursery opened. Not until someone stuck a finger down the back of her diaper did Marcia realize Christine had returned.
“Hey!” Marcia yelped.
“I was checking to see whether you needed a change,” Christine said tartly. “And you very much do. Your diaper is soaked!”
“It ith?” Marcia asked in surprise.
“Yes, it is.” Christine picked up Marcia and brought her over to the changing table. “You were having so much fun playing that you didn’t even notice, hmm?” Marcia blushed at the painfully true statement. Christine laid Marcia down and began the process of changing her diaper.
“Why’d you come back?” Marcia asked, trying to distract herself from the humiliation of the diaper change.
“I tracked down Rusty. He said that as long as you feel comfortable continuing to work, you should be allowed to do so. But he also said that he’d be more than happy to bring you home.” Christine smiled. “And I told him that I’d be more than happy to house you for the time being as well.”
“Tho…”
“So…” Christine said, pinning a fresh diaper onto Marcia. “You have a choice to make! You can go back to work, go home, or stay here in the nursery.” She redressed Marcia, still smiling. “No matter which option you go with, though, feel free to keep the dolls. They’re just gathering dust in here.”
“Thank you,” Marcia mumbled.
“No problem. So, what do you want to do?”
