Jess-turned-Jeff looked down at himself and opened his mouth to scream. What came out, however, was more like a horse screeching in fright. Jeff began to hyperventilate as Leon rushed over to his former girlfriend.
"Ohmygodohmygodohmygod," Jeff gasped as Leon put his arms around his now-boyfriend. "What the hell is this? This can't be real. What the fuck is happening?!"
"Jess, Jess it's okay," Leon tried to say soothingly, taking Jeff in his arms and kissing his forehead. "Jake, do something!" he spat at his roommate while trying to keep his significant other calm. Leon held Jeff as tight as he could, trying to calm his boyfriend down. "It's fine, babe, everything's going to be okay. You're fine. I'm here for you. We're okay. Y'know, you're actually really sexy like this."
"I what?!" Jeff screamed, pushing Leon away. "Leon I'm not human anymore! And I'm a guy! Oh fuck, oh fuck, what am I going to do? I don't know how to be an alacentaur!" Jeff looked back at his body, wincing as he reached to touch his wings and his coat. His tail was swishing rapidly as he tried not to panic. When he saw it, he gasped and began sobbing, wrapping his arms around himself and taking gulping breaths. Leon approached him again and held his arms out, but didn't put them around Jeff this time. Jeff didn't seem to notice.
Meanwhile, Jake nodded as soon as Leon told him to do something and began typing away at Jeff's profile, trying to find something to fix everything. He found settings to alter Jeff's panic levels and set them all as low as they could go. Immediately, Jeff stopped hyperventilating and looked up at Leon. "What did you say?"
Leon smiled at his girlfriend-turned-boyfriend. "I said you're fine, Jess, and, uh, you're actually really sexy like this.," he spluttered.
Jeff looked quizzically up at Leon and then to Jake. "Jake, what the hell is going on here? Why am I an alacentaur like Leon? A male alacentaur at that?" He then turned to Leon. "And what do you mean, I look sexy like this? I'm a guy now!"
Jake and Leon both began talking at once, Leon stammering about how he's always been bi and never been with a guy while Jake tried to feebly explain the Chronivac. With both of them going at once, however, Jeff had to push Leon away and rear up on his hind legs to get them to stop. Jeff pointed at Leon and told him to go first.
"Well, uh, like I said, I'm actually bisexual," Leon said sheepishly, rubbing a hind leg against the back of his other hind leg. His face became bright red as he continued. "Um, I've never actually been with a guy, but I think you look a lot sexier like this. Especially since we're the same species now. I, uh, kinda prefer you this way."
Jeff crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. "I'm so glad you approve. Jake, how did this happen?"
Jake looked away and pulled his tail around his front, nervously playing with it in his hands. He explained the Chronivac and how he had accidentally changed Leon, and then how he had accidentally hit the random button again when Jess went to remove Leon's towel that was hiding his horn.
"But Leon's always been that way," Jeff said after Jake finished explaining everything. "It's how we met. It's why I fell in love with him."
"Not quite," Jake said, turning to the Chronivac. "That must be part of the reality options of the Chronivac. Look." He clicked a setting to make it so Jess had always been Jeff, but remain aware of having been Jess.
Jeff put his hand to his head and gasped. "I - I'm Jeff, I've always been Jeff but I remember being Jess." He looked up at Leon. "Okay, we need to talk about this. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Right now I've got two different lives in my head and I don't know which I want." He turned to Jake again. "You did this, you're going to help us figure this out," he said sternly. Jake hung his head and mumbled an apology.
Leon took Jeff's hands in his. "Babe, I love you no matter what, you know that, right?" Jeff smiled and nodded.
"I love you too, but this is my life, and I don't know if I want to stay this way. Or go back to being Jess. I, I don't know what I want. So let's talk and figure it out together."
