Alisa sat up, wiping her mouth on her cloak.
"It's getting dark," she said, "we should make camp."
"Sure," Renee replied, "I have some supplies in my knapsack. We won't need the light with the full moon tonight, but I could get a fire going to keep warm."
Alisa limped from the bank to the clearing next to the stream. "I feel pretty warm already," she replied.
"Really? I feel pretty warm too. It's probably from the run. My feet are feeling pretty tight in these boots, though. It will be nice to relax my toes in front of a fire."
Alisa slowly untied her leather vestment and slipped it off onto the ground. Renee could not help but look up from her rock seat.
"It must be the run, my feet feel bunched up too," Alisa said, "You got any food in that knapsack?"
"Absolutely," Renee replied, looking over her shoulder at the sunset. "We should get this fire started before the sun goes down on us though."
Alisa and Renee made quick work of setting the clearing for the fire. Both felt more on edge as the light of the sun began to fade from the horizon. They each wanted desperately to exchange the warmth of their suddenly uncomfortable clothing for the warmth of the fire. Neither wanted to intensify the already awkward moments they already had experienced. Renee shed her plate mail inconspiciously during the camp work while Alisa had loosened her bodice and waist rope. Both felt their feet cramping as their nails seemed to push again the front of their boots.
The fire roared to life with the flick of Renee's lighter as the twilight began to completely darken above the two. Alisa kneeled next to Renee as the full moon revealed itself over the forest treeline.
