The first thing Andrew noticed when he woke up was that there was a large egg in the bed next to him! It looked like an ostrich egg that had been colored with pink and green stripes and yellow polka dots. It was also wiggling.

It looked like the egg was hatching! It encompassed all of his attention as he watched cracks spiderweb along its surface. Then, with a mighty POP the egg burst open with a flash of light, scattering bits of shell all over the place. There standing where the egg used to be was a strange little monster. It was like a fluffy yellow chick with thick legs and claws instead of wings. It was as big as a basketball and stared up at Andrew with an imprinting gaze.
“Mama?” the monster chirped.
