As Ollie touched down on her porch, the girl was still standing within sight. She was watching him with eyes the size of saucers. He grinned, wiggling his taloned fingers at her and she slowly wiggled them back.
"Hi," Ollie said. He had to admit, his own heart was beating fast. Here he was talking to his own neighbor but not as himself. "Uhm, I didn't mean to scare you if I did."
"You didn't scare me," The girl said, sliding down onto the floor. "I'm Katie."

Ollie felt a rush in his cheeks, and he hoped that the blush didnt show through his feathers. He forgot he was entirely naked except for the sneakers. Sure the feathers covered him, but still, he had human sensibilities.
"Uhm, I wanted to know what it was like to wear them. My feet sorta uh, ruined them though." he said.
She giggled, and now she unlatched the glass and opened the way into her room. "thats kinda silly. Uhm, would you like to come inside? My parents aren't home."
Ollie paused, considering the offer. He could make up an excuse and fly away easily or....
