"Well hi there, can I help ya out?" Jason was surprised to see the Black girl from behind the counter had come out to help him. The man that was apparently her father now had taken over to assist the other family.
"Uh, I was just curious about this place." Jason managed after a moment, looking to see her name tag read Mandy.
"Ain't you just the cutest thing. We don't get many city boys cute as you in her." Mandy chirped. Jason wondered if this was part of her pitch, or if she really thought he was cute.
"I mean, you are in a mall in the city. How does you family manage to keep this place going anyway?" He had wanted to know, and since he had the opportunity thought he may as well ask.
"You sayin my pa and I ain't good enough for your mall?" Mandy's tone shifted, daring Jason to say anything bad.
"No, nothing like that!" Jason quickly waved his hands, trying to deescalate things. "I just hadn't thought there were that many farmers around the area."
"Ya know we do online orders too don't ya? We ain't dumb rednecks." Mandy pouted.
"Of course not. I was just... I mean..." Jason tried, but Mandy's gaze cut him down to size. Finally she smirked.
"Yer even cuter when you're all flustered." Mandy let out a laugh, and Jason couldn't help joining in. "So ya want me to show ya round, or are ya gonna stare at yer phone all day?"
"Oh, sorry, just got a new app and was having fun with it." Jason explained.
"Yeah, what kinda app?" Mandy asked as she took the phone from Jason's hand. In the process she generated a new sentence, and the app instructed her to change a word.
"Jason is enjoying time with his new acquaintance Mandy."
