"I'm actually fine with the idea of you turning me into a dog," said Jeff, not entirely telling truth. He was really having his doubts about letting his own dog turn him into one, but he didn't want to disappoint her, she seemed to be so grateful for the chance he gave her to live as a human and surely it was fair to let her make some changes to him. Besides, part of him was really excited about the prospect. The whole point of him getting the Chronivac was to see what it can do. He now knew he had a device that could turn a dog into a human. Could it turn a human into a dog?
"Very well," answered Sally. "Hey, do you mind me using the reality alteration to make some changes to your wardrobe? I didn't need clothes as your dog, but it'll be really awkward going without them as a human."
"Uh, sure, go ahead," Jeff agreed sheepishly. Was this a good idea? He was letting his dog alter reality now? Changing some of his stuff into hers? But he couldn't deny she was right: she was going to need clothes, and until he became human again, Jeff wouldn't.
"Great, just let me click confirm, now let's check your closet. Oh, isn't this marvelous?" Sally pulled out a blue-and-white dress with a few items of ladies underwear. "I've always wanted to wear something like this. At least, I always would have wanted to, if I'd ever considered the possibility of becoming a human."
Jeff shifted and fidgeted, not sure what to think of his closet being full of women's outfits. He somewhat shamefully considered the possibility of rushing back to the computer while she looked at clothes and turning her back into a dog then and there. But then, wouldn't she be angry? He wanted to get along with his pet even after she changed back, he wasn't going to back out of their deal take away her humanity unexpectedly when she was so enamored with it. Besides, he had already considered possibly turning himself into an animal before he realized he could change her. He knew Sally loved him, and she already seemed to understand the Chronivac better than he did. He would just have to trust her with his human life for a while.
"Okay, now what breed do you want to be?" she asked, sitting back down at the computer, snapping him out of his scattered thoughts.
"Um, do they have any small breeds?" said Jeff, blushing as soon as he decided it sounded silly to think that out loud. What would his former retriever say about him possibly turning into something like a pomeranian? Apparently, she didn't mind.
"Well, some of your options are corgi, beagle, chihuahua, jack-russel, dachsund and maltese," Sally listed matter-of-factly, not implying that Jeff should be embarrassed at all. Still, he thought it would look more dignified and masculine if he showed her he could consider larger, more potentially intimidating dogs.
"Any guard dogs?" he asked, mustering a slight swagger and a deeper tone of voice. Again, she largely ignored his demeanor and calmly listed some of his options.
"Depends on what you'd wanna use as a guard dog. You can be a rottweiler if you're into that, or a shepherd, or a doberman, pretty much any large breed. Even if you wanted to be a retriever like I was, there are lots of options. And we don't have to do this at all if it's too weird. It's just, with so much power at our fingertips, we should both get to have fun with it."
There was no way Jeff was backing out now! Hearing so many possible choices had his heart racing with expectation. He still had qualms, but that's part what was making this so exhilarating! He thought of the dogs she'd listed and the dogs she hadn't, and finally decided. It was time to tell Sally what he wanted he wanted to be!
