Rainbow no longer had a sense of time....at least not as a matter of days, weeks, or months...she only knew that her two babies no longer needed her. Her body started to adjust, the telltale signs of a pregnant human were beginning to fade, her breasts no longer full of milk. And no one had seen her act in any way irritable, as she'd been when she arrived.
Her two babies were only eight weeks old when the dogs started to separate them. Had someone tried to do that two months ago, Rachel would have been devastated, and fought. However, this was normal now. In a short while, they would all adjust to being apart.
Then, one day, a mature looking poodle came in and started talking to the teenage beagle. A few minutes later, he brought Rainbow out to her. "Ma'am....this is Rainbow..." Rainbow perked up at her name.
The poodle leaned down, patting her gently. "Do you want to come home with me, girl?" She said, in a soothing voice. "I live alone and could really use a roommate..." She fed Rainbow a snack the beagle had given her.
Rainbow sniffed the dog, and found herself being leashed and taken out of the building to her new home.
