Beth went for walks from time to time, to take her mind off of the changes her kingdom had undergone.
She never wore her crown during her outings, having taken a liking to the anonymity that being seen as just another cow gave her.
Walking through the vast, grassy fields always calmed her mind. Infact being out in the fields, with a gentle breeze blowing in her direction, calmed her so much that she didn't even notice when a spell had been cast on her.
"There we go, that should be all of them." Said a wizard, before walking up beside Beth and tying a rope around her neck,
wich he used to lead her towards a farmer that was standing nearby.
"Thank you for helpin' me round them all up, i'm not sure i could've done it on my own!" The wizard shook his head at the farmers words.
"There is no need to thank me. We should all follow the example of the queen and strive to improve the lives of those around us."
He put one hand on the farmer's shoulder. "And you even let me build my laboratory on the edge of your property,
without asking for even a single coin. What kind of man would i be if i did not help you in your times of trouble?" The wizard said,
not knowing that the queen he had praised was standing behind him with a vacant look on her face.
The two exchanged a few more sentences, before making their way back to the field where the rest of the farmer's cows were.
The farmer spoke again after sending Beth through the pasture's gate towards the other cows.
"But you really did save my bacon here. They're all ordinary cows and none of them are branded yet, so i couldn't have done much to prove they're mine if someone had picked them up, y'know?" He was quiet for a moment while gazing at the cows.
"What kinda spell did you use anyway? I'm kinda impressed with how easily we caught 'em."
The wizard smiled. "It's a recent project of mine, i call it 'Control Cow'. I know that it isn't the most creative name i could have given it,
but i thought i should keep it simple, considering that it is essentially just a specialized version of the 'Control Creature' spell."
The wizard stopped a moment, making sure that the farmer was still paying attention before continuing.
"Specializing the spell allowed me to adjust it and make improvements, that made it exceptionally easy to use and extremely effective."
The farmer made an impressed expression, before seemingly realizing something. "Wait, doesn't that mean you can use it on transformed people? I'm telling you right now that i want no part in this if you're planning something like that!"
The words of the farmer seemed to downright horrify the wizard. "Why i would never-"
The wizard paused. "I'm sorry, i see how my words could have been easily misunderstood. It is common knowledge for wizards that a complex mind, like that of a human for example, is far more difficult to influence than that of an animal. I never meant for my words to come across the way they did." The farmer was visibly relieved by the wizard's words, though some worry still remained.
"Are you sure it doesn't work on people? I wouldn't wanna see you get dragged off cause someone thinks you're planning a conspiracy."
The wizard waved it off. "That would be completely impossible unless that person is less intelligent than a real cow. The only other situation i could think off in wich it may work, is if a person was transformed down to their core, something equaly as impossible,
unless someone incredibly powerful was involved." He said, with the certainty of a professional.
"In fact, i doubt anyone other than the queen could do something like that in this kingdom."
Neither was aware that the queen, that had just been mentioned, was happily mingling with the farmer's livestock.
