The Donaldson's left the House Of Doom and made the short trip back to their car. Nobody except for Megan said a word to each other, and even that one word was "Goodnight". Everybody slept in the car at the side of the road until morning...
The sun rose, and the family of four were still asleep. Steve had been having strange dreams about a paramilitary group chasing him through the woods, and Janet had had felt a bad omen about the future ever since her husband had opened that stupid book. Alan was the first to wake up, and he quietly got out of the car to feel the early morning breeze and see if he could fix the tire himself. As he opened the passenger door and stepped out, Alan suddenly forgot why he stepped outside in the first place. Ally looked around the wooded area, then back in the house, shuddered, and went back inside the car.
"Mom! Dad!" she whispered loudly.
"Mom. Dad. Wake up!". Then she started to wake up her dad by rubbing his left shoulder.
Her father woke up with a slight jolt, and then rubbed his head. "Oh great. I so do not want to change the tire today..."
"I can do it if you don't want to do it" suggested Ally.
"No, no. I'll...I'll do it." Groggily, Gene got out of the car with his teenage daughter and the two of them began to replace the tire. When they were done, Gene put the flat into the trunk, and he then woke up his wife to start up the car."
Gene shook Stephanie a little out of her slumber. "Honey, wake up."
Stephanie jerked out of her bad dream violently and almost hurt herself.
"What? Oh, it's daylight. I'll go fix the tire."
"I already took care of it" said Gene.
Stephanie breathed a sigh of relief. "OK, just give me a minute to calm down, and then we'll start the drive home."
"Do you want me to wake up Marvin?" asked Ally.
"No, let him sleep" said Stephanie. "He's still only twelve, he needs the extra rest."
Stephanie started the ignition, and started to drive home. She was thinking of the happier days back in high school and college back when she was a star athlete. If it weren't for that one broken arm that she got arm wrestling...who knows where she would have ended up? Not in insurance anyway. Hell, she would have settled for doing something with her minor in history. Anything must be more inspiring then her current predicament. She looked at Ally in the backseat, who seemed to be taking after her in terms of athletics.
The drive home was surprisingly pleasant and uneventful, and Marvin woke up about a half hour after they had started driving. As a slightly insecure kid, he couldn't wait to see his friends again.
Once they got into their house, the gang all went their separate ways and would reconvene at dinner time.
Marvin went to instant message Jared, his best friend, and Ally did the same for her friend Katey. Stephanie read a book and Gene poured himself a drink.
Option 1: The Donaldson's all look exactly as they did before, but only perceive themselves as the opposite sex.
Option 2: The Donaldson's are mentally AND physically gender switched(Steve is actually a woman, Megan is now really a boy, etc.), leaving neighbors and friends to wonder where the REAL Donaldson family went.
Option 3:The Donaldson's are mentally AND physically gender switched(Steve is actually a woman, Megan is now really a boy, etc.), but reality has changed so they've always apparently been like this.
