Josh's mind went a little numb as he clocked into his job at a burger joint in his town. Everyone was already taking orders, making food, and delivering said food to the customers who ordered them. All he had to do now was wash his hands, and endure whatever happened in the next 8 hours. He went to the cashier position, called the next person, and it was a sweet little girl with a dollar and change in her hands with their parent looking from a distance. Little kids on occasion could be a hassle, but this one seemed to not be bad.
"Hello, how can I help you lil miss?" Josh asked
The little girl said "umm... Can I get one ice cream cone?" Josh then went through the motions, typing in the order, getting the money, and then turned his back to the girl as he went to the ice cream machine. He grabbed one cone, dispensed the soft serve creamy goodness, and turned around to give the ice cream cone to the sweet little girl. However as he turned to the area the little girl was in there seemed to be a twenty something woman with a large rack instead... Who seemed to be wearing the dress of the little girl which was at best a small shirt on her...
"Ugh, FINALLY! It's been like Twenty Years!" said the woman who grabbed the cone and stormed off. None of the other patrons or the little girl's parent seemed to think anything was out of the ordinary. Josh was a little concerned and looked over to his Co-worker Greg a teen at the drive-thru window, and Linda a relatively flat teen girl with long blonde hair done in a ponytail at the other register.
"Did you guys see that?" Josh frantically asked
Linda finished with her customer and said "I think I heard about it on the news... Some weird time bubbles."
"Something happen?" Greg asked from across the front area. Josh was a little confounded as no one was reacting to reality being altered like this except for him. Joshed guessed he still had to work though. After a few small mistakes at the start due to being a little uneasy with the little girl turning into a half-naked fully grown woman. Then an hour in there was a bigger mistake when he accidentally bumped into Linda a little carelessly. They then fell together and their heads bumped together. When Josh opened his eyes he saw his own body on top of... himself? The co-workers got up and it was obvious they swapped bodies.
"Oh Well." Linda said in her new big man body "Back to work."
"Shouldn't you be more concerned?!?" Josh asked in his new younger body.
"Ah, you're right! We should wash our hands." Josh had to admit that Linda was technically right. They went to the sink, and while Linda was washing his hands their manager Esmeralda walked over.
"Linda, go clock out. You're shift is over." the manager said towards Josh.
"We swapped bodies, I'm Josh not Linda." Josh said
"Doesn't matter, you're in her body and that body's shift is over. Clock out and go home." Not being given many options Josh clocked out, and went to her locker and grabbed her things. Josh however did grab a slip of paper, and write down her phone number and gave it to Linda. Josh sighed as she was adjusting her seat in her car to support Linda's body. At least she's old enough to drive so the likelihood that Josh would get pulled over should be very slim.
