Rick had to walk away from everything that was going on in the kitchen as the women chatted. He saw that it was nearly time for the news cast so he flipped it on.
The same anchors were on as yesterday. The woman now was nearly 60 with a shock of short white hair, increasingly severe features and deepening wrinkles on her thin, bird-like physique. The male anchor was in his late 80s and barely seemed cognizant as to what was happening.
"He has dementia ...or Alzheimer's," Rick thought. "And they still let him on air."
More intriguing to Rick was the scroll at the bottom of the screen. So many celebrities had begun to die of old age already that there was just a constant stream.
"We're all going to die," Rick thought. "If this doesn't stop, we'll all be dead in days."
A knock at the door and it was Rick's cousin, Laura, and her son Henry. The 30-year-old looked at least 60 with her short, once dark ponytail completely grey and deep lines in her face. Her barely two day old son was a strapping young man of 30, maybe 32 by this point.
"We came to see how we could help," Henry said as Laura sat down next to Renee.
Rick took stock. In 24 hours, everyone in this house would be either middle aged or elderly.
"I...I need to go for a drive," he said, racing out of the house as fast as his paunchy body would allow.
Melanie followed suit.
