Rick sighed heavily, running a hand through his thinning hair before frowning. "Male pattern baldness is a bitch," he grumbled.
"Did you say something Rick," Renees asked.
Rick glanced over at his mother, she looked to be in here mid eighties by now, her hair going from grey to white with deep wrinkles and sallow cheeks. Rick tried to remember how old his oldest relatives had lived to. Renee was definitely heading towards the end, her vision seeming to become poorer by the minute as she appeared more decrepit. Rick could feel his throat tighten at the thought of his mother passing.
"Nothing mom," he said softly. "Just feeling old."
"Imagine how I feel," she chuckled. "But with age comes wisdom son."
"I know mom I know," Rick sighed. Smiling he now stood, giving his mother a warm smile. Hopefully Olivia would return before Renee passed. "You need anything mom?"
"Your daughters energy," Renee smirked. "You know the saying, youth is wasted on the young."
"Ain't that the truth," Rick sighed. "Sometimes I wish we could just turn back time."
Neither Rick nor Renee noticed as the ring on his finger began to glow softly. Another of Ricks unintentional wishes had now stopped the flow of time from going forwards. No one seemed to notice as everyone's aging began to slow, coming to a stop before it began to tick backwards.
Renee now stood stretching as she made her way towards the sink. "Olivia will be fine son you'll see," she said as she washed out her glass. "You and Darcy raised her right. She'll make the right decisions."
Rick simply nodded, watching as his mother began to move around the kitchen. It seemed odd but the elderly woman seemed to be moving around much easier. Looking at her hair, Rick blinked. Did her hair have fewer whites in it than only a moment before?
Shrugging, Rick made his way to the living room, puzzled that he too seemed a bit more refreshed. As he watched his sister exit the kitchen he became confused. Did Melanie look younger? It seemed her laugh lines weren't as prominent as before.
Simply shrugging, Rick simply sat down waiting for Lily to return. Maybe once she got back, he could figure out what was going on.
