Legends have long spoken of the practice of elves or fae of snatching humans away into another world. Legends abound too of marvelous beasts never seen in these latter times. But very few on Earth know how closely the two sets of myths are connected.
For the Fae exist; and the magical beasts exist, created by the Fae -- from humans. The Elves, especially, are fond of taking mortals from Earth and reshaping them into their companions in Faerie. From the Elves' point of view, they are doing them a tremendous favour -- granting these short-lived beings immortality, power and beauty.
That they will thenceforth live in servitude to a master (or mistress) primarily interested in exploiting that power does not strike them as a problem. For human or beast, they are still inferior to an Elf; and who would not wish to serve an Elf? Surely it is a more noble calling than anything they could do on Earth as mere humans.
Now another human, fortunate or unfortunate, has been chosen to serve an Elven master. Who are they? What will they become? And who will they serve, in what capacity?
- A household pet, maybe even an exotic lover?
- A companion to a brave adventurer?
- A plaything in a brothel?
- A military beast for the Elvenking's soldiers?
- A breeder to produce more familiars?
- A beast of burden, serving humbly on a fantastic farm?
Some rules:
- Faerie is inhabited only by fantasy races, which are sharply differentiated between the Fae - Elves, Dwarves, Trolls and other humanoids -- and the beasts.
- Initial transformation should be human to magical animal -- dragon, unicorn, kitsune, peryton, etc. Transgender changes are more than welcome! Other than that, try to stick to a "high fantasy" theme, and please bear in mind that the focus of this branch is to explore the person adjusting to their new form and role. Turning back into a human, a different magical beast, or even a Fae can be an option but don't abuse it.
- All magical beasts begin in a feral/animal form. But they can take an anthro form at their master's command/permission. They also have a variety of powers according to their species.
- Familiars have psychic links to their owners which make commands hard to resist and discourage acting against the owner. It is possible to break the bond and "wild" magical beasts exist in the wild. The bond can be transferred to a new owner by gift or sale.
- Although a newly transformed human isn't going to be very strong magically, magical beasts become more powerful than Fae fairly quickly. Which is the point -- the Faerie masters siphon power from their familiars to boost their own spells.
- To fit the theme -- that the humans are just animals to the Fae -- I think it would be best to avoid creatures that have human traits -- e.g. satyrs, centaurs, sphinxes.
- Have fun! o:
