Several minutes later Matt and Cheryl were in the car park. They had walked out the public entrance. Matt found he had no trouble walking in the heels. The artifact certainly seemed to have given him Amelia’s walking in high heels skills. Cheryl even commented “You walk as though you have been wearing heels your entire life. Is there something you forgot to tell me?”
“Don’t joke. It is quite disconcerting. I can’t believe this is me”
“I can’t imagine how you feel. I feel weird in this body and I’m still the same sex”
What Matt found more disconcerting was the breeze and the feeling of a space between his legs. He really didn’t want to think about what he was now missing but couldn’t get the thought out of his mind. What if the process wasn’t reversible? What if he had lost his penis for good?
“Easy to pick the car" said 'Melody'. "Only one Porsche in the car park. Whose car is it anyway? Melody’s or Amelia’s?” A shiny yellow Porsche was parked in a prominent position.
“Well Melody never drove a Porsche to work and Amelia drove it here so I get to drive to the house” Once Matt had found the Porsche shaped remote he had kept it in his hand. Driving a Porsche for the first time in his life was at least a little bit of compensation for the strange circumstance he now found himself in. The yellow car's lights flashed when he pressed the button on the remote.
Matt sat in the driver’s seat and had to ask “Do I wear the heels while driving or go with bare feet?”
“I would go with bare feet if I was driving, however the seat adjustment should tell you what Amelia does. And looking now I would guess Amelia wore her shoes as she drove here. Give it a try but if you have any doubt pull over and take the shoes off”
Matt started the car and took off. The car certainly had a bit of zing. It was a thrilling ride but like walking in them, driving in the heels came naturally to the new Amelia. That reminded him of the Directors parting words. He had to think of himself as Amelia and had to always call Cheryl ‘Melody’. It would not do to slip up. Likewise the new Melody had to call the former Matt ‘Amelia’
It was a forty minute drive to the seaside complex occupied by Pedro. Matt enjoyed the drive and they didn’t get lost thanks to ‘Melody’s’ directions. However as they neared their destination Matt began to get butterflies in his now slim tummy. If they made a mistake and their true identities were revealed he had no doubt that both he and ‘Melody’ would be quickly dealt with. From here on they could not afford any mistakes.
Matt realised he wasn’t breathing as the drove up to the front gates of the complex. There was a guard carrying a machine gun standing by the open gate. Matt pulled up and lowered the tinted window. The guard just smiled nodded his head and waved them in.
“I guess our new looks just passed their first test” commented ‘Melody’
