Matt walked ‘Melody‘ to the door. He felt a bit awkward. Had they been in their true bodies he would have given Cheryl a kiss and said see you later, but now? It didn’t seem appropriate to kiss goodbye. A brief squeeze of hands was all that was exchanged. Penelope was in the hallway waiting patiently. Matt left Amelia in her hands and returned to what was now his room and shut and locked the door.
He then turned and surveyed the room. Everything was immaculately tidy. The bed was perfectly made. The only item that looked out of place was Amelia’s handbag, the same bag he had bought back from the jail. How did it get here? Matt couldn’t recall taking it out of the car. But then he pictured Tony the bodyguard inspecting the bag for bugs. He must have given it to Penelope who had bought it to the room.
Matt inspected the other doors leading from the room. The first was the walk I closet where he had found the girls.
This was the first time he had been alone since gaining Amelia’s body. He re-entered the closet and stood in front of the full length mirror he had noticed earlier. It was truly amazing to see his reflection. There was a stunning blond in a navy skirt suit looking back at him. She was slim with wavy blonde hair that extended to about 4 inches below her shoulders. She had an angelic face with blue eyes and flawless skin but maybe that was just thanks to the make-up she was wearing. Matt smiled and the girl revealed a pleasant smile herself. She had a noticeable gap between her front teeth. She was a gap toothed angel.
Matt guessed Amelia was about his own age of 30, mind you he had never been good at guessing a girl’s age. Then he realised it would most likely be written down on Amelia’s driver’s licence, which was in the handbag on the bed. He would have to discover as many details about Amelia as he could if he was to impersonate her. It might be hard to explain forgetting your own birthday.
Matt returned to the bed and retrieved Amelia’s purse from the bag. He found the licence. ‘Amelia Bailey’ She was born May 17th 1992. That made her 29. The address on the licence was an apartment in Silverlake. Clearly she had not recently updated her address. Did Amelia still have that apartment?
Matt rifled through the bag. Looking for other personal documents but there was nothing resembling a diary. He stopped when he came upon an unopened package of tampons. He didn’t need to be reminded that these were items that potentially he might need to use. That made him wonder whether he should be thinking of himself as a ‘He’ anymore? He or she wasn’t sure.
Matt saw Amelia’s I-phone once more. He opened it, thankful she had set it up using her finger print as security. He opened up the photo’s there were hundreds on storage. There were selfies of Amelia and selfies of Amelia and Pedro with Amelia in a bikini. Matt flicked back in time. The photos with Pedro only started 6 months ago. Prior to that there were no consistent males in Amelia’s photos. If she had a previous boyfriend he had been deleted. There were photo’s of family. Matt soon recognised a woman who must be Amelia’s Mum. She looked an older version of Matt’s current self. She even had the gap between her front teeth. He guessed the man with her was Amelia’s father. He looked nothing like Amelia. He was balding and stout. Amelia also seemed to have a younger sister. Or at least she looked to be younger maybe only 20 or 21. She had a face similar to Amelia’s but with the father’s teeth and shorter light brown hair. This sister was often cuddling a tan and black terrier.
There were also photo’s of other women, at social events, Matt guessed these were Amelia’s girlfriends. He spotted Melody in quite a few of the pictures. It seemed they were friends.
