Joseph was a man in his mid-late twenties and was still working at a fast food restaurant. He was just this close to maybe getting himself a paid internship for like the 20th time... or maybe getting a promotion to shift manager. He was feeling good about himself at the closing shift that tomorrow he'd get an interview and maybe get somewhere in life.
Then a meteor about the size of a small trash can collided into him. He was rushed to the hospital quick, but no one could find the meteor. Maybe the meteor was some sci-fi tech? Some magic conjuration? Some sorta living symbiote/parasite? Hard to say and no one really found out in the end as compared to many other issues of significance... Joseph Kleins was never important enough to give that much attention to by more major players in the world. Having been in the hospital for a few days he missed his interview for the paid internship he had a decent chance of getting accepted for. He for sure wasn't fired from his job, but not getting paid leave was hurting.
After the few days Joseph was back on his feet and able to work again with himself feeling only half-dead. Still he still needed the money so he would just have to grin and bear it as he would try to at least work hard to get a management position. Just gotta get the orders, speedily make the drinks, get the fries, rub some areas clean when possible, explain things to the customers who didn't understand how things worked, wait for customers to get their orders straight while backing up the line, restock-
On the best days things could get overwhelming during lunch/dinner rushes but Joseph being on a pretty bad day slipped up relatively quickly, and as he grabbed a paper bag containing a customer's order wrong and a tear formed. The tear then widened letting the food to spill. There was one thought on Joseph's mind and that was to try to catch the food and salvage something. He heard fabric ripping and to be fair he did catch everything. A lot of people were staring at the man who had grown half a dozen arms out of his chest which had grabbed and crushed/ruined most of the food. Joseph was stunned at what he had done... In retrospect being his by a random meteor and living was probably not the most subtle way the universe had bestowed powers to someone, but was this all he could do? Joseph looked around some people shocked, especially his co-workers, and a few clapped thinking it was a fun trick.
Upon experimentation Joseph had found that his ability allowed him to change his body in almost any way he wanted... Assuming he had enough mass or magic to sustain the new form. We now follow Joseph in the story where...
