Welp as we left off Joseph had just ripped the front of his shirt by morphing his body to create about half a dozen appendages to catch some food. For a little while it felt like time had stopped, but time had to reassert itself as reality continued. Joseph looking at the food in his hands realized that none of this was salvageable and took it to the trash and threw it away. He found it amazing that he could even control so many new appendages... Meanwhile the manager Jordan walked over to the shocked employee. She was nice and kind middle aged woman, but if she caught you fooling around or doing something you weren't supposed to good luck.
"So... This something new?" Jordan asked
Joseph sighed and said "Yeah... This just kind of happened..."
"Think it was that mete-"
"Of Course it was the meteor! I didn't make a pact with a pixie or anything in the hopsital. It's the meteor!" Joseph snapped
"Alright... So I've mostly got two things I gotta say. First are those going to stay or can you change them or something?"
"umm..." Joseph tried remembering what it was like summoning the arms in the first place... A kinda knee jerk "GRAB!" reaction. So now he'd want a "RETRACT!" and a second later he fell to the ground landing on his stomach knocking the wind out of himself.
"Are you alright?!?"
Joseph breathed in hard and managed to get out a "kinda....." a cough or two later he said "Ok... The arms weren't permanent nor were my actual arms or legs apparently.... One sec..." Thankfully his hips were wide enough that his pants and underwear stayed on... although Joseph would have to put his shoes back on... "Mind if I asked if you angled me upright?"
Jordan concerned obliged and asked "This good?"
Joseph upright looked up to the counter and said "I think so..." and using a phantom limb reached up to the counter above him and an arm materialized to grab the counter's edge. He reached with his other phantom limb and a second arm materialized. He wasn't entirely sure if he would be strong enough, but as he tried lifting himself up a bit with just his arm strength... it became a little easier and not because Jordan was holding him. However now that he realized this phantom limb tactic was working getting his legs back should be as easy as walking. Just put one foot on the ground, and his bare foot made contact with the slippery food industry floor. He slipped back to the floor again as the man who just gained superpowers made a spectacle of him learning the basics of movement all over again.
"Joseph-"
"No! Just a mistake... I can get my other leg..." and got himself up on his one leg and then mentally stomped his other foot onto the ground. Looking at his reformed apendages... Well they weren't quite right. Hairless, no calluses, no nails, and they weren't the right length.
"Alright, you're alright. That's the most important thing... There's just one more issue." Jordan tried saying politely
"We need to remake the customer's order?"
"Oh no, we did that pretty fast. It's more the dress code. We can't have you working here shirtless." Joseph was about to just rage, but Jordan held up her hand and said "I get the situation. Go home, relax today, and get whatever handle on this power you can. Between you and me consider this time off with pay."
Joseph took a deep breath to compose himself and said "Thank you..." The man said as he picked up and put on his socks and shoes again before leaving the establishment. Joseph wasn't sure how he'd look to the other civilians... maybe that he was attacked by some weird moth monster and saved by professor clean. Still that didn't stop Joseph from walking down the city sidewalk to his apartment complex. While the thoughts of random bystandards wouldn't stop Joseph the thing that would stop him was...
