There were a few things Heracles had to take care of before he had to go take part in the Night Parade of 100 Demons. Namely, it was looking over some of the plans for the Greco-Roman colony. It was clear that this island had been used in ancient times, most likely by both the Greeks and the Romans. Why this particular island has not been mentioned before was a bit unclear. Then again, the Aegean Sea is full of many islands, not every isle appearing on the map. It could simple be a matter of this island being overlooked as the trade routes changed.
Heracles was looking over the plans for the colony with his wife, Megara. The island was big enough to have a large town or a small city. The main idea was for the town to built in a Greco-Roman style. Of course, there would be modern conveniences, namely indoor plumbing from this century. There were plans to have a Roman bath here, though more modern means to heat it would be required. It was uncertain at the moment whether they would have enough room for a coliseum. It might not be as large as the one in Lyre. And they were trying to preserve some of the ruins found on the island.
"I'm still not sure why someplace like this could have been forgotten," said Megara.
"You know, I've heard some rumors that this might have been where the Lost Legion ended up," said Heracles.
"If you're thinking it was the Ninth Legion, I think you need to recheck your sources," said Megara, "The Ninth Legion was headed for Brittany and they would have gotten very lost to have ended up there."
"It may not have been the only Lost Legion," said Heracles, "A lot of records were lost when the Visigoths sacked Rome."
"Legion or not, that might be the most likely explanation for why this place was forgotten," said Megara.
"There could be more answers in the ruins," said Heracles, "We still don't know what this island was called. Or for that matter, what we're going to call it."
"Well, there was one suggestion. We could name after Circe's island," said Megara.
"That sounds rather appropriate," said Heracles.
"There's just one little problem," said Megara. She wrote something on a piece of notepaper before showing it to Heracles. It said 'Aeaea'.
Heracles scratched his head and asked, "Uh, how do you pronounce it?"
"That's just it," said Megara, "No one's sure how to say it. The most common guess is 'A-ee-ah'."
"It could almost be Hawaiian," said Heracles.
"Even though that's on the other side of the world?" asked Megara dryly.
"Hawaiian's more vowels than consonants, isn't it?" asked Heracles.
"That's true to an extent," agreed Megara, "It makes me wonder if this is close to any Hawaiian word."
"Well, if we ever do figure out an agreeable way to say it, it would be the perfect name for this colony," said Heracles.
"Fortunately, we'll have time to figure that out," said Megara, "Rome wasn't built in a day."
"I don't think we're aiming for as high as Rome," said Heracles.
